Director of Nursing
Job Summary:
We are seeking a strong, compassionate, and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department in our skilled nursing facility. The DON is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role ensures the highest quality of care for residents while fostering a positive, collaborative, and accountable clinical environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of all nursing services
- Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state regulations, and facility standards
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and performance management of nursing staff
- Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Monitor clinical outcomes, including wound care, falls, infections, and rehospitalizations
- Partner with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to achieve organizational goals
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and facility leadership
- Manage budgets related to nursing operations and supplies
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Promote a culture of safety, respect, and resident-centered care
Minimum qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of employment.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of 3–5 years nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations (CMS, survey process, and documentation requirements)
- Proven leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience with quality improvement, risk management, and staff development
- Ability to lead through change and foster team
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
Physical/other requirements:
- Ability to lift/move residents and stand for extended periods.
- Pass background check, drug screen, and TB/health screening per facility policy.

Schedule:
Full-time, salaried position with on-call responsibilities as needed.
