Vice President of People & Culture

Wurzak Hotel Group (WHG) is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and hands-on Vice President of People & Culture to lead culture, compliance, and people strategy across our portfolio of hotels. This executive will be responsible for shaping a thriving workplace culture, ensuring compliance with all HR and labor regulations, and aligning people strategies with business goals across multiple brand lines. This is an in-office role based at our Philadelphia headquarters.

The Vice President of People & Culture will oversee a corporate HR team while also supporting and guiding property-based HR leaders. Reporting directly to the President and serving as part of the Senior Leadership Team, this leader will play a critical role in advancing WHG’s mission by balancing operational excellence with a people-centered culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Culture and Engagement
• Champion WHG’s culture by driving initiatives that strengthen engagement, recognition, and retention.
• Partner with the Culture Director to design and implement programs that support our brand pillars and celebrate team member success.
• Lead employee engagement surveys, analyze data, and develop strategies to continuously improve workplace culture.
• Serve as a visible culture ambassador across properties, inspiring leaders to foster thriving work environments.

Compliance and HR Operations
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida.
• Lead employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy enforcement.
• Oversee HR budgeting, payroll alignment, and benefits strategy, including vendor management and open enrollment.
• Manage compensation and pay equity strategies, including annual merit and salary adjustment processes.
• Develop and monitor HR reporting on turnover, engagement, compliance, and staffing at regular intervals.
• Ensure training compliance across all properties, including both company and hotel brand requirements.
• Partner with property HR leaders to ensure consistent and transparent application of policies and practices.
• Provide oversight of HR technology systems and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and reporting.

Leadership and Development
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and leadership development.

• Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to HR leaders at the property level.
• Oversee onboarding and orientation programs, monthly manager training, and ongoing leadership development initiatives.
• Lead succession planning and ensure the organization has a strong pipeline of talent for future growth.
• Anticipate industry trends and evolving workforce needs to position WHG as an employer of choice.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or VP-level role.

• Proven success managing compliance and culture initiatives in a multi-site, hospitality, or service-oriented organization.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, particularly in PA, VA, and FL.
• Experience leading and developing multi-level HR teams.
• Demonstrated success in organizational design, change management, and workforce planning.
• Excellent communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
