Sunwise Collision Center is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint shop Prepper/Polisher to join our automotive refinishing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for painting and performing final detailing and polishing after the paint application. We are looking for a responsible applicant that can multitask while still being vigilant with their responsibilities, keeping pace with the expectations of the job description. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specifications including the direction of the mentoring Paint Technician and by following the written repair order
- Assist Paint Technician in pre-op by preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs and assist in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finishes meet quality standards
- Keep Management updated on the status of assigned vehicles and assist in problem solving to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery
- Consistently participate in regular safety trainings and utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal
- Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc. to complete quality work.
- Review estimates to ensure all operations listed have been completed and verify the panel/parts to be painted.
- Clean, wax, polish and refurbish vehicles
- Verify repaired areas are finished to standards
- Identify all areas of the repair that may require additional corrosion protection (hidden welds, etc.)
- Strict adherence to the Principles of Downdraft Technology.
- Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician.
- Help keep the shop and the rest of your work environment orderly by cleaning up after every job, putting tools and equipment back in their proper place and performing janitorial duties when needed
- Any other duties as assigned by management when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in car paint processes a must!
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
- Manual dexterity, good judgment, and ability to operate power and hand tools and other types of machinery safely
- Previous Body Shop Experience Required
- Dealership experience preferred
- Previous Tesla & BMW experience preferred
- Completion of vocational program preferred
- Clean driving record & valid driver’s license
COMPENSATION:
The Paint Prep and Polish Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Hourly Compensation between $22.00 and $28.00. Hourly rate depends on experience.
