What We Require From Our Caregivers:

In our goal to ensure employee and client safety, only applicants who meet the minimum pre-employment requirements will be considered for the position:

  • Caregiver must pass the State and Federal Criminal Background Check/Fingerprinting with CJIS.
  • Caregiver must have reliable transportation with the willingness to drive up to 25 miles.
  • Caregiver must be able to lift 25-100 lbs. and must be able to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach out, push, pull and carry
  • Caregiver must be able to withstand periodic contact with dog and cat hair, dust, mold, mildew and cleaning solutions
  • Caregiver must be able to adapt to various individual living environments and locations.
  • Caregiver must have reliable and working means of contact such as a pager, home phone or cell phone.
  • Caregiver must be able to provide us with verifiable references. Reference forms must be filled out completely to include current address, contact number and contact person.
  • Caregiver must have a minimum of six (6) months verifiable experience as an aide/caregiver.
  • Caregiver must be able to provide proof of Tuberculosis (TB) testing, which is valid for one year. If the test returns a positive result, the applicant will then be required to provide a proof of chest x-ray within 30 days, if considered for employment
  • Caregiver must be able provide a proof of a physical exam done within one calendar year within 30 days, if considered for employment
  • Caregiver must be able to present a valid CPR Card within 30 days, if considered for employment
  • Caregiver must be able to present a valid First Aid Card within 30 days, if considered for employment
  • Caregiver must be able to provide two (2) proof of identification documents, such as a valid driver's license, Social Security card or other Federal/State-issued ID card.
  • Caregiver must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States, such as a work permit, a resident alien status cad, and US naturalization certification (if applicable).
  • Caregiver must be able to attend the Human Resources Orientation in our office as a pre-employment requirement

Our Expectations from our Caregivers:

  • Caregivers are expected to support our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
  • Caregivers are expected to keep us informed of their availability for work
  • Caregivers are expected to accept work assignments within their stated timeframe and area of availability.
  • Caregivers are expected to be on time, properly dressed and prepared for all work assignments.
  • Caregivers are expected to be ethical and should not discuss personal problems or issues with clients.
  • Caregivers are expected to attend training sessions and meetings.
  • Caregivers are expected to turn in their time sheets on time.
  • Caregivers are expected to treat clients with respect and dignity.
  • Caregivers are expected to treat the office staffwith respect
  • Caregivers are expected to read, understand and comply with our policies and procedures.
  • Caregivers are expected to have either a pager or a cell phone available for the Patient Care Coordinators to contact them for assignments.

 

Caregiver Responsibilities

Basic Function: To provide professional companionship and housekeeping services

Primary Responsibilities: Duties include providing and assisting with activities of daily living:

  • Bathing, oral hygiene and dressing
  • Assisting with using the bathroom or changing disposable incontinence appliances (diapers)
  • Meal preparation and assisting with feeding
  • Light housekeeping
  • Grocery shopping
  • Assistance with walking
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Transferring and positioning patient
  • Laundry
  • Contribute to a positive living climate for the overall quality of life for the client
  • Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned or requested
  • Reporting any significant changes in the clients' needs or living conditions to the nurse monitor

Essential Qualifications

 

  • Speaking, hearing, reading, writing and communicating in English clearly, in person and on the telephone, on an average adult level
  • Ability to communicate with the client in a friendly and congenial manner
  • Ability to communicate with the supervisor and other office staff to ensure that service expectations are met
