Job Overview: Vision Net, Montana’s largest state-wide network and premier data center provider is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optics, routers, switches, and other networking equipment while ensuring optimal performance and reliability of Vision Net’s network.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, modems, and structured cabling.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on network hardware and software issues.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support network upgrades and expansions.
- Document network configurations, maintenance activities, and service reports.
- Respond to service tickets and troubleshoot connectivity issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
- Assist in planning and implementing network security measures.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
- Work in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information and records when required.
- Travel to remote locations for work with scheduled and non-scheduled notice.
- Work independently and within a team.
- Hold a valid Montana driver’s license, and safe driving record.
Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Telecommunications technologies (Voice, Data, IP, Ethernet, Photonics, Security).
- Network protocols (DWDM, BGP, TCP/IP, SIP, OSPF, SNMP, MPLS).
- Industry best practices and standards.
- Industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- OSS/BSS systems and network management tools.
- Microsoft 365 and other relevant software.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or network support
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)/Administrator (PCNSA), or BICSI.

Working Conditions:
- Full-time, rotating shifts (weekends, evenings, overnights, holidays).
- Rotating On-Call duty may also be required.
- Frequent in-state travel and overnights.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Occasional outdoors work in adverse weather conditions.
- Occasional confined spaces conditions.
