Experienced Used Vehicle Inspection Technician – Ford: Varsity Ford

We are seeking a highly experienced Used Vehicle Inspection Technician with deep expertise in Ford vehicles. This is not an entry-level position — we are looking for a seasoned professional who can hit the ground running and ensure every used vehicle meets strict internal and OEM standards before it reaches our lot.
Position Overview: As our Experienced Used Vehicle Inspection Technician, you will take ownership of inspecting, diagnosing, and preparing Ford (and other OEM) used vehicles for resale. Your role will be critical in maintaining our reputation for delivering safe, reliable, and fully reconditioned vehicles to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive multi-point inspections on incoming used inventory with a specialization in Ford OEM systems and standards.
- Quickly and accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and safety-related concerns, using Ford-specific diagnostic tools (IDS, FDRS, etc.).
- Assess vehicles for reconditioning needs and recommend necessary repairs with clear documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the reconditioning team and service advisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Verify that all repairs and inspections meet Ford Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) requirements (where applicable).
- Ensure compliance with all state safety and emissions standards.
- Maintain a high standard of quality control with minimal rework.
- Occasionally perform high-skill repairs or lead complex diagnostics on Ford vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an automotive technician or vehicle inspector.
- Proven track record with Ford vehicles – Ford OEM certification(s) strongly preferred (e.g., STARS, ASSET, VCM experience).
- Advanced knowledge of Ford powertrains, electrical systems, ADAS features, and SYNC technologies.
- Familiarity with Ford reconditioning or CPO inspection processes is a plus.
- ASE certifications (preferred but not required).
- High level of accuracy in documentation and vehicle assessment.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to work autonomously and with urgency in a high-volume environment.
