We are seeking a CNC Programmer to join our team in Hickory, NC! This position is responsible for translating engineering drawings and concepts into efficient, repeatable, and high-quality CNC machining processes. This role supports prototype and production manufacturing through CNC programming, process prove-out, setup documentation, and day-to-day technical support to ensure parts are produced safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Responsibilities:

Create, revise, and improve both old and new CNC programs for lathes and mills (3 & 4 axis mills / 3 & 5 axis lathes)

Determine optimal machining strategies to minimize cycle time, material waste, and setup time

Program, setup, and run prototype parts (design engineers provide drawings and programmers turn these drawings into reality via machining on CNC machines)

Assist with prototype part qualification and first-run validation

Convert existing programs between CNC machine platforms as required

Perform standard production CNC machine setups in a backup capacity

Provide technical support to operators and setup technicians during production

Troubleshoot production machining quality / cosmetic / program issues as well as operator error issues

Develop and maintain manufacturing documents: determine tooling and create setup sheets

Maintain accurate revision control of CNC programs and manufacturing documents

Perform in-house preventive maintenance and troubleshoot/repair unscheduled machine outages

Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements:
-
High School / GED required
-
10+ years of CNC programming and machining experience preferred
-
Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
Computer Skills Required:
-
Experience in the operation and utilization of CAM Software (GibbsCAM preferred)

Experience with Microsoft Office & Google Workspace tools
Other Skills and Abilities:
-
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and specifications provided by engineering

Experience with multi-axis milling and turning machines
-
Mastery of G-Code (ability to read, interpret and edit G-Code programs)

Comprehensive understanding of conventional measuring tools and techniques, to assure compliance with technical specifications

Comprehensive knowledge of machine shop tools and equipment

Understand the proper application of high-speed machining techniques used to mill, turn, drill, and tap

Comprehensive ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC Machines

Assist in root cause analysis of scrap, rework, and downtime related to machining processes

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency, quality, tooling standardization, and process reliability

Must have the ability to work in a team atmosphere to obtain common goals and objectives

Must be capable of working independently

Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate and pay close attention to detail

Strong safety orientation. Perform all tasks safely and responsibly
Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, etc.
*This position will be full-time, in-office Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
*Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
