Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) – Job Description

 

Position Summary

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides high-quality mental health counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups. The LPC is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. This role requires strong clinical judgment, ethical practice, and a commitment to supporting clients in achieving emotional wellness and personal growth.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans

  • Provide individual, group, couples, and/or family therapy

  • Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities (e.g., CBT, solution-focused therapy, trauma-informed care)

  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and insurance guidelines

  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and referral sources

  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and state regulations

  • Participate in supervision, case consultations, and professional development activities

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Active state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

  • Master’s degree in Counseling or a related mental health field

  • Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnosis and treatment planning

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage caseload effectively and maintain documentation standards

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred

 

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with diverse populations

  • Training in trauma-informed care

  • Bilingual abilities (if applicable)

  • Crisis intervention experience

 

 

 

Work Environment

This position may be based in a private practice, outpatient clinic, community mental health setting. Work may include in-person and/or telehealth services.
