Tutor Doctor of Morris County is looking for a dependable, outgoing, and organized Community Marketing Ambassador to help increase our visibility throughout Morris County.

This is a part-time, field-based position (you do not work from home) for someone who enjoys being active, working independently, meeting people, developing community relationships, and representing a local business in a positive and professional manner.

The Community Marketing Ambassador will support neighborhood outreach, yard-sign campaigns, community events, vendor fairs, school functions, and other local opportunities where families may learn more about Tutor Doctor of Morris County.

This is not simply a yard-sign placement or event-staffing position. The right candidate will actively seek out meaningful community marketing opportunities, evaluate where Tutor Doctor should be represented, build and maintain a calendar of potential events, and help execute those opportunities from beginning to end.

Tutor Doctor of Morris County is a locally owned and operated tutoring company providing personalized, one-to-one academic support to students and families throughout Morris County.

We provide in-home and virtual tutoring for students from pre-K through college, including support in math, reading, writing, science, homework help, study skills, executive functioning, SAT and ACT test preparation, and advanced high school and college-level courses.

Our approach is highly individualized. We meet students where they are, understand their current academic needs, and create a personalized plan designed to build skills, confidence, and long-term success.

Primary Responsibilities

Neighborhood and Field Marketing

• Visit assigned neighborhoods and community locations throughout Morris County.
• Identify strong, high-visibility locations for Tutor Doctor yard signs.
• Evaluate neighborhood entrances and exits, connecting roads, high-traffic residential streets, community gathering areas, and other locations where signs may be seen by a meaningful number of people.  Signs are to be placed on private property with permission from homeowners.
• Speak politely and professionally with homeowners and residents.
• Request permission before placing signs on private property.
• Place signs neatly, securely, and in appropriate locations.
• Check previously placed signs to ensure they remain visible and in good condition.
• Retrieve signs when requested or when placement is no longer appropriate.
• Take photographs of sign locations when required.
• Accurately record each visit, conversation, placement, check, and pickup using the company tracking system.

Community Events and Vendor Outreach

• Research and identify community events where Tutor Doctor of Morris County can connect with local families.
• Seek out opportunities such as PTA and PTO fairs, school functions, community nights out, family festivals, educational events, neighborhood gatherings, community outreach programs, vendor fairs, and other local events.
• Contact event organizers to gather information regarding participation, vendor registration, deadlines, fees, attendance, and event requirements.
• Recommend events that provide strong opportunities to increase Tutor Doctor’s visibility among families with school-aged children.
• Build and maintain a calendar of upcoming community events, registration deadlines, and confirmed appearances.
• Coordinate event registration and preparation with the owner.
• Organize and transport marketing materials, table coverings, signs, brochures, giveaways, contact forms, and other event supplies.
• Set up and break down Tutor Doctor vendor tables and displays.
• Attend and work community events as a professional representative of Tutor Doctor of Morris County.
• Speak with parents, students, educators, and community members about Tutor Doctor’s tutoring and test-preparation services.
• Follow up internally after each event with recommendations regarding whether Tutor Doctor should participate again.

Community Awareness and Planning

• Help identify new neighborhoods, schools, organizations, businesses, and community partners that may provide outreach opportunities.
• Monitor local calendars, school communications, social media pages, municipal websites, and community groups for upcoming events.
• Develop ideas for increasing Tutor Doctor’s visibility throughout Morris County.

• Organized and able to manage an event calendar, deadlines, registrations, and follow-up responsibilities.
• Comfortable representing a business at vendor tables, fairs, school functions, and community events.
• Able to explain Tutor Doctor’s services clearly, warmly, and professionally.
• Comfortable using a smartphone, email, Google Maps, online calendars, photographs, spreadsheets, and basic tracking systems.
• Able to evaluate whether an event or location offers meaningful visibility.
• Respectful of private property, school procedures, event rules, and community guidelines.
• Positive, professional, and able to represent a family-owned education business appropriately.
• Comfortable spending time driving, walking, standing, setting up displays, and working outdoors.
• Available for a flexible part-time schedule that may include occasional evenings or weekends.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable personal transportation.
• Smartphone with internet access and camera capabilities.
• Ability to travel throughout Morris County.
• Ability to carry, place, and retrieve lightweight yard signs.
• Ability to transport and set up vendor-table materials.
• Ability to stand and interact with attendees during community events.
• Ability to work outdoors in reasonable weather conditions.
• Consistent communication and accurate record-keeping.
• Professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with the public.
• Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.

Schedule and Compensation

• Approximately 5–8 hours per week, depending on field assignments and the community-event calendar.
• Flexible schedule based on campaign needs, event availability, weather, and neighborhood activity.
• Some community events may take place during evenings or weekends.
• Compensation of $20 per hour, based on experience and overall fit.
• Mileage, travel expectations, event expenses, and approval procedures will be discussed during the interview process.
• Additional hours may be available during busy event seasons or special marketing campaigns.
