We are looking for a Full Time Drywall.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply drywall to walls or ceilings.
- Fasten drywall panels to the inside framework of building.
- Prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints.
- Smooth out imperfections.
- Work with ceiling tile installers to build walls.
- Read blueprints and designs.
- Measure, cut, fit, and fasten panels.
- Prepare panels by sawing, drilling, or cutting holes in panels for electrical outlets, air-conditioning units, and plumbing.
- Screw panels to wood or metal framework.
- Use a lift to place ceiling panels.
- Fill joints in-between panels with spackle.
- Use trowels to spread spackle.
- Press paper tape into compound.
- Smooth away excess material.
- Cover nail and screw depressions with spackle.
- Apply second and third coats of compound.
- Sand areas after each coast.
- Ensure that when using paint, stain and solvents that proper ventilation and safety equipment is used.
- Insure that all areas not being textured, painted and stained are completely covered with drop cloths or plastic.
- To ensure efficiency, bring all supplies and tools needed to complete the project or repairs to the area in which you are working. Then return all tools to their rightful place.
- Insure that the work area is cleaned before you leave. This means you might have to dust, mop, vacuum, sweep, or rearrange items moved in the process of the work getting done.
- Insure that all Building, Health and Fire Department codes are followed in regard to the painting or drywall trade.
- Insure to follow the OSHA requirement for safety when working alone, around other employees, and/or our guests using the public areas.
- Insure that MSDS sheets are maintained.
- Ensure that a purchase order is written for every part or supply needed after the approval of Director of Facilities.
- Insure that the daily or weekly checklist is followed in its entirety.
- Perform other duties assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Good communication skills, ability to perform in a fast paced environment. Minimum of 2 years experience, preferably from a hotel. Able to work any shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime as needed. Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to second hand smoke and high noise levels.
