Provide assistance to Arboretum Security in maintaining a safe and orderly traffic and pedestrian flow during peak visitation periods. Perform a variety of tasks including security and safety operations, enforcement of Arboretum policies, and general assistance to staff and visitors.
Work with Security Ranger staff in assisting with traffic direction and vehicle parking during peak visitation days and special events.
Assist Security Ranger staff with setup and breakdown of alternate parking lots, including placement of cones, signs and ropes.
Provide general Arboretum information and directions to visitors.
Utilize two-way radio to keep in contact with on-duty Rangers.
Assist Security Ranger staff with coordination of parking assignments for contract services including placing contract staff and reviewing parking layout and operation.
Assist Security Ranger staff with radio issuance and retrieval to and from contract services.
Other duties as assigned.
Previous public contact work experience desired. Ability to communicate well with the general public and exceptional customer service skills required. Must be physically fit and able to stand for prolonged periods of time in varying weather conditions. Must present professional image to the public by following the Security dress code.
Ability to be polite, informative, and helpful towards visitors. Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with the visiting public. Ability to embrace and align with our employee core values to take ownership, work together, keep learning and make the Arboretum exceptional.

Physical Demands: Requires significant physical activity: limited lifting and carrying (up to 35 lbs.), and standing for long periods of time. Vision in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors, in varying weather conditions, at parking areas around the Arboretum grounds.
Equipment: Two-way radio, utility cart.
Schedule: This is a seasonal position with varying hours and activities depending on the season. Schedule will primarily be on weekends, but must have the ability to work any day of the week including holidays.
