The chef/ kitchen manager is responsible for preparing food to meet quantity and deadline requirements while exceeding hospitality and service standards.

Description of responsibilities:

• Lead and instruct culinary team members
• Organize kitchen to meet goals of the department
• Prepare daily specials and plan events that enhance the resident dining experience
• Make decisions in the absence of the culinary director
• Hire, orient, and train team members
• Manage daily line set-up, organization, and monitoring
• Oversee daily production of community events
• Prepare food items utilizing standardized recipes
• Determine food and supplies needed 
• Coordinate meal production with service hours
• Monitor food items for temperature, taste, and quality
• Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food items per the menu cycle and standardized recipes
• Interact with residents during mealtimes to monitor satisfaction
• Oversee proper food storage procedures
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties
• Maintain food safety equipment records and food safety temperature records
• Practice all safety and loss prevention measures
• Complete food orders and inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required experience:

• High school diploma/GED
• One (1) year of job related experience that includes food preparation, full-line menu items, and therapeutic diets
• Previous supervisory experience beneficial
• Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred

• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
