The Role:
As a Sous Chef at O-Ku, you are a master of the line and a mentor to the team. You will have 2+ years of experience managing an upscale, high-volume kitchen where precision and "food-first" culture are the standard. The Sous Chef will be passionate about the technical artistry of Japanese cuisine and eager to engage with the Alys Beach community.
You will oversee service quality, ensure the procurement of the highest-grade products, and serve as a champion of "Internal Hospitality," fostering an environment where your team can thrive while achieving financial goals.
What we will ask of you:

Lead the Line: Set the tone for the guest experience by leading a positive, collaborative, and high-energy kitchen environment.

Precision & Quality: Oversee and maintain rigorous food and service quality standards, ensuring every dish meets the O-Ku "work of art" standard.

Operational Excellence: Assess and implement service standards, ensuring consistency across all BOH procedures from prep to plating.

Financial Stewardship: Assist the Executive Chef in achieving financial objectives, including managing labor costs, controlling COGS, and analyzing variances.

Collaboration: Partner closely with the General Manager and FOH leaders to ensure a seamless, "one team" approach to hospitality.

Cultural Ambassador: Lead by example, embracing the Indigo Road core values and setting the standard for health, safety, and cleanliness.
Requirements for Success:

2+ years of successful management experience in a high-volume, scratch kitchen (upscale or fine dining experience required).

Technical Passion: A deep love for high-end ingredients and a desire to master both traditional and contemporary Japanese techniques.

Problem Solver: Strong resolution skills and the ability to stay calm and focused under the pressure of a busy coastal service.

Detail Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for the small details that elevate a dining experience.

Effective Communicator: The ability to navigate important conversations and provide constructive feedback to your team.
