The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Director of Human Resources to join our team! The primary purpose of your job position is to recruit, interview, screen, and onboard candidates for job openings; develop policy and direct and coordinate Human Resources functions, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services. 

 

SALARY RANGE:  $63,000 - $73,000/ yearly

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related degree preferred, but not required.  Certification in Human Resource Management helpful.
  • Must have, as a minimum, 3 years of experience in Human Resource Management. 
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines concerning personnel matters in long-term care settings.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult individuals
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel 
  • Must notify Administration in writing at least one month in advance prior to resigning your position at GSH.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing all human resource functions.
  • Responsible for development, review, and updates for personnel policy manuals, job descriptions, performance evaluations, etc., in accordance with all pertinent laws governing personnel matters.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating policies, procedures, and programs covering the following: employment, labor regulations, wage and salary administration, benefit administration, general orientation and training, safety, insurance and health benefits, and any other personnel services.
  • Supervise Benefits Coordinator
  • Work together with all department heads to determine the number and level of personnel to be employed and make recommendations to Administration.
  • Receive requests from department heads for new personnel, fill requests, screen and arrange interviews of potential staff.
  • Review applications and check references for all prospective employees.
  • Maintain job applications for persons eligible to work in the facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with all pertinent regulations.
  • Assure all required documentation is received or completed and filed for all employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an adequate personnel filing system that meets facility needs and complies with current employment practices.
  • Ensure facility maintains compliance with all federal and state employment regulations.
  • Provide public information (i.e., verification of employment, wages, etc.), in accordance with current laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to such matters.
  • Chairperson and coordinator for the Employee Assistance Fund/Committee.
  • Monitor all Worker’s Compensation claims and coordinate between department, supervisor, employee, and insurance carrier.
  • Participate in counseling/disciplining personnel as requested, or as necessary.
  • Coordinate grievance committee.
  • Conduct exit interviews on all staff leaving employment and report pertinent data to Administration.
  • Prepare and distribute performance evaluations to supervisors.
  • Monitor all unemployment claims and assist facility with appeals, as necessary.
  • Conduct annual salary and wage surveys.
