The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Youth Corp Coordinator to join our growing team!

Job Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to help assure quality of life for each resident on an individual basis and to plan, develop, organize, and direct the Youth Corps Volunteer Program.

This is a seasonal position only.  Great opportunity for a high school or college student.  Full-Time, Day hours.  Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Recruit potential volunteers as necessary.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement the Youth Corps Orientation program.
  • Assign to duties to each youth volunteer.
  • Supervising the youth volunteers in their assigned duty areas to ensure the youth are carrying out their duties properly (providing spot checks, supervising the area, receiving reports from other dept.).  This includes disciplinary action if it is necessary.
  • Arrange and coordinate with other departments’ requests for work.
  • Plan and implement a yearly recognition program.
  • Responsible for maintain of the Youth Corps volunteer hours record. 
  • Assist residents through the buffet line at meal time as directed by the Activity Director.
  • Observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Department, including gloves when serving food.
  • Responsible for the safety of residents and volunteers under his/her supervision.
  • Assist in the maintenance of activity equipment and supplies.
  • Assist other staff in the Activity Department as directed by the Activities Director.
  • Arrange the Youth Corps who volunteer at special events that are not during regular business hours.
  • Arrange the Youth Corps who volunteer to complete the TB tests in accordance with facility policy and procedure.
  • Keep work area free of hazards by following established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Report any incidents and accidents (on the same shift as they occur) to your supervisor.
  • Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
  • Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma, or GED equivalent.  
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Must have the ability to feel, hear, see, and smell.
  • Must be able to lift loads in excess of 50 lbs. and do physical labor that consists of balancing, climbing, crouching, fingering, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, and stooping.
