Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic nursing care to patients and residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, and promoting a safe, clean, and supportive environment for resident. 

Qualification Requirements 

  High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. 

  Completion of CNA I training program and valid Nurse Aide I registry listing. 

  Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). 

Minimum Qualifications 

  One year of relevant experience working in long-term care or assisted living, preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology. 

  Understanding of infection control practices and hygiene protocols. 

  Assisting with patient mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment. 

  Taking and recording vital signs and documenting care accurately. 

  Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or stressful situations. 

  Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team. 

  Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries. 

  Follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing priorities. 

  Demonstrated compassion, patience, and attentiveness to patient needs. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Functions 

Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding. 

Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure). 

Observe residents’ physical and mental conditions and report changes to nursing staff. 

Assist with mobility: repositioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation. 

Maintain clean and sanitary conditions of resident rooms and equipment. 

Provide emotional support and companionship to residents. 

Document care provided in electronic health records accurately and timely. 

Adhere to infection control protocols, including proper use of PPE. 

Physical Demands 

Always required to stand, walk, and assist patients. 

Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Frequently required to bend, reach, push, and pull. 

Occasionally required to lift or assist in lifting individuals over 100 pounds with team or equipment assistance. 

Occasionally required to kneel or crouch. 

Visual acuity to observe patient condition and read charts.

Work Environment 

Always works indoors in resident-living area. 

Frequently exposed to bodily fluids and communicable diseases; PPE provided. 

Frequently works near patients experiencing physical or emotional distress. 

Occasionally exposed to strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and medical waste. 

Occasionally works in noisy environments due to equipment and alarms. 

Rarely works outdoors or in non-clinical areas. 

• Never operates motor vehicles or heavy machinery as part of job responsibilities.
