Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic nursing care to patients and residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, and promoting a safe, clean, and supportive environment for resident.
Qualification Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Completion of CNA I training program and valid Nurse Aide I registry listing.
• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Minimum Qualifications
• One year of relevant experience working in long-term care or assisted living, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology.
• Understanding of infection control practices and hygiene protocols.
• Assisting with patient mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Taking and recording vital signs and documenting care accurately.
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or stressful situations.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing priorities.
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and attentiveness to patient needs.

Essential Functions
• Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure).
• Observe residents’ physical and mental conditions and report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with mobility: repositioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation.
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions of resident rooms and equipment.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Document care provided in electronic health records accurately and timely.
• Adhere to infection control protocols, including proper use of PPE.
Physical Demands
• Always required to stand, walk, and assist patients.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently required to bend, reach, push, and pull.
• Occasionally required to lift or assist in lifting individuals over 100 pounds with team or equipment assistance.
• Occasionally required to kneel or crouch.
• Visual acuity to observe patient condition and read charts.

Work Environment
• Always works indoors in resident-living area.
• Frequently exposed to bodily fluids and communicable diseases; PPE provided.
• Frequently works near patients experiencing physical or emotional distress.
• Occasionally exposed to strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and medical waste.
• Occasionally works in noisy environments due to equipment and alarms.
• Rarely works outdoors or in non-clinical areas.
• Never operates motor vehicles or heavy machinery as part of job responsibilities.
