At Sylvan West Covina, we believe in the power of passionate educators. Our instructors enjoy what they do best: just teaching. No grading, no prep work—just meaningful instruction using proven Sylvan curriculum in a small group setting (3:1 student-teacher ratio).

 

We’re currently hiring Math Instructors to support students primarily in middle school and high school math—including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. While math students will be the priority, instructors may also be scheduled to work with students in reading, writing, and test prep across grades K–12, depending on availability and center needs.

Subjects We’re Hiring For:

Required:

  • Algebra I & II

  • Geometry

  • Trigonometry

  • Pre-Calculus & Calculus

  • SAT/ACT Math Prep

  • Additional support in Reading and K–12 enrichment as needed

Optional:

  • Biology 
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Statistics

 


What You'll Do:

  • Deliver personalized instruction using Sylvan curriculum

  • Motivate and engage students in a supportive setting

  • Track and celebrate student progress

  • Communicate student needs to the Center Director

  • Foster a fun, positive learning environment

 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

  • Strong content knowledge in upper-level math

  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience (2+ years preferred)

  • Comfortable working with students of all ages (K–12)

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Passion for helping students succeed


    Availability:

    • Our center's instructional hours are Monday-Friday 2:30-7:30pm and Saturday 9:30am-1:30pm. 

     

 


Compensation:

  • Starting at $19/hour, depending on experience
