Who Are We Looking For?
The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for managing the team and processes involved in shipping, receiving, and inventory control. This includes supervising personnel, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment, maintaining proper documentation, and optimizing department efficiency.
What You’ll Do:
People Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and develop shipping and receiving staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance to meet receiving and shipping deadlines.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve productivity.
- Ensure the team is adequately supported with forklift talent, filling in when needed.
Shipping & Receiving Operations:
- Oversee the unloading of incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and inspect for damage.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate the timely dispatch of goods to customers, vendors, or other locations.
- Execute returns, including system entry/processing and physical restocking.
Inventory Management Coordination:
- Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee stock rotation in the warehouse.
- Assist in performing regular cycle counts and stock audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Ensure all shipments are accompanied by the correct documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips).
- Maintain compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to shipment or inventory documentation.
Quality Control and Safety:
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all materials to avoid damage.
- Implement safety protocols and ensure staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and resolve any identified safety issues within the department.
Communication and Coordination:
- Work closely with other departments such as Sales, Procurement, and Production to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide regular reports on shipping and receiving activities, inventory levels, and potential issues to management.
- Resolve any shipping or receiving-related customer service issues.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Inventory accuracy
- Freight cost savings
- Warehouse capacity and utilization
- On-time shipment (against SLA)
Your Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse management software.
- Familiarity with safety standards and practices in a warehouse or shipping environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle issues quickly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a shipping, receiving, or warehouse environment.
- Forklift certification (if applicable) is a plus!
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move around for extended periods.
Compensation:$29 - $33/hour DOE
Location: Ferndale, WA
