The Sales Leadership Development Program is designed for high-potential individuals who are eager to build a long-term career in sales. The program begins with a foundational role in inside sales and progresses over 12–18 months toward an outside sales position. This path includes structured development, mentorship, and performance-based milestones to prepare the candidate for a leadership-track sales career at Stone Center.

About Stone Center

  • Established in 1952, Stone Center is a provider and fabricator of Natural Stone Products
  • We have two fabrication shops in Ohio, one in Cincinnati and one in Columbus
  • We primarily fabricate Indiana Limestone and the majority of our projects are in Ohio, but have branched out to the Midwest in recent years
  • There are 28 full time employees between the two locations

 

Phase 1: Inside Sales Foundation (Months 1–6)

  • Respond to inbound sales inquiries and assist walk-in customers with product selection and order placement
  • Develop deep knowledge of our product lines, pricing structures, and customer segments
  • Collaborate with operations and fulfillment teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery
  • Enter and manage sales orders, quotes, and CRM updates
  • Support outside sales reps with quoting, samples, and lead generation
  • Begin territory-specific training and observe customer interactions

 

 

 


Phase 2: Sales Process Integration (Months 6–12)

  • Shadow outside sales team on customer visits, job site walk-throughs, and contractor meetings
  • Begin proactive outbound communication with assigned accounts under supervision
  • Take ownership of a select group of customers or a territory segment
  • Attend industry events, product knowledge sessions, and vendor meetings
  • Track and report on KPIs and customer touchpoints using CRM tools
  • Receive structured coaching and participate in sales role-play scenarios

Phase 3: Transition to Outside Sales (Months 12–18)

  • Begin full outside sales responsibilities, including cold calls, relationship management, and prospecting
  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan with input from Sales Manager
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals
  • Build long-term relationships with builders, contractors, architects, and other decision-makers
  • Act as the face of Stone Center in your assigned territory
  • Collaborate with inside sales and operations to ensure high customer satisfaction

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Sales or equivalent customer facing experience
  • Must be able to work in the office and be present in the sales territory
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and your team
  • Positive attitude and a growth mindset (we are here to help train you!)
  • Displays strong customer service ethic, with high emphasis on empathy and exceeding customers expectations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
