Director of Plant Operations

This is an executive-level, enterprise-wide role — based out of our Resource Center in Midvale, Utah, and built for someone who has already proven they can lead facilities at scale across a senior living portfolio. What You’ll Own

Enterprise Strategy & Standards: Set facilities policy, develop enterprise-wide maintenance standards, and govern preventive maintenance programs across 44+ SNF, IL, AL, and Memory Care communities. You’re the architect of how every building in the portfolio operates.

Capital Planning & Budget Ownership: Lead multi-year CapEx forecasting, own the full capital budget, and partner with Finance, Development, and Ownership Groups to protect and grow the value of Stellar’s physical portfolio. This is real capital stewardship at scale.

Facilities Leadership Development: Hire, coach, manage, and develop Regional Maintenance Directors across the portfolio. Succession planning and team performance sit with you. The field team’s capability is your responsibility.

Vendor & Contract Strategy: Own national vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and hold partners accountable to enterprise-level performance standards. You’re not approving invoices — you’re managing strategic partnerships.

Compliance & Risk Leadership: Lead the organization’s regulatory posture across state licensing, CMS guidelines, NFPA standards, building codes, and ADA compliance. Drive risk mitigation through proactive deferred-maintenance tracking and capital-risk identification.

Sustainability & ESG Oversight: Own the portfolio-wide ESG strategy, utility management program, and sustainability reporting — including Energy Star and ESG platform management.

Technology & Data Integrity: Govern the full facilities technology ecosystem — TELS, Yardi Voyager, and all facilities data platforms — ensuring accuracy and accountability at enterprise scale.

Growth & Acquisition Support: Lead new community integration and support due diligence on acquisitions and development projects. Every new community comes through your team.

What You Bring

• Must be a Utah resident
• Direct senior living industry experience required
• 8–12+ years of progressive facilities or engineering leadership, including multi-site senior living portfolio ownership — required
• Proven track record in building and leading regional facilities teams — not just managing buildings
• Deep expertise in CapEx planning, contract management, and capital budgeting at scale
• Comprehensive command of senior living regulatory environments: state licensing, CMS, NFPA, building codes, and ADA
• Fluency in TELS, Yardi Voyager, Energy Star, and facilities data management platforms
• Executive-level communication skills — comfortable presenting to boards, ownership groups, and C-suite stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required); advanced degree preferred
• CFM, FMP, or PMP certification strongly preferred

Compensation

• Base Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 DOE
• Quarterly profit share
• Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with match
• Unlimited PTO
