Position Summary:

The Service Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while accurately and efficiently processing parts and service repair transactions for dealership customers. As a key point of contact within the Service Department, this position ensures a positive customer experience by managing payments, maintaining accurate financial and repair order records, and assisting customers with service-related inquiries. The Service Cashier utilizes dealership software systems to process payments, record repair orders, and maintain customer account information. The ideal candidate is professional, courteous, detail-oriented, and possesses strong administrative, organizational, computer, and customer service skills. This position works closely with service advisors, service porters, parts personnel, and management to support the daily operations and overall success of the department. 

Schedule Requirements: 

This is a full-time position requiring the flexibility to work a schedule between Monday and Saturday to achieve a 40-hour workweek. Availability to work varying shifts, including Saturdays, is required based on business needs and department scheduling.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Receive and process payments for service, repair, parts, and accessory purchases.
  • Accurately post payments and close repair orders using dealership management software (CDK).
  • Balance cash drawer and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate payment records.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding invoices, payments, and service documentation.
  • Handle cash, credit card, check, and electronic payment transactions securely and accurately.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct customers to the appropriate department when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier area.
  • Support service department operations with filing, administrative tasks, and customer communication as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding cash handling and customer information.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous customer service, retail, cashiering, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Money-handling and point-of-sale (POS) system experience preferred.
  • Automotive dealership experience preferred.
  • Basic accounting and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, internet applications, and dealership management software.
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and business needs.
