Innkeeper
The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) engages in Enlightened Hospitality which begins with how we treat our teammates. This determines how they treat the guests who visit our hotels and restaurants. However talented and committed the team may be, it must be it must be led by dedicated, experienced professionals with the skills to teach and lead other team members.
IRHG is seeking a fun, friendly, energetic, and experienced individual to manage our Rooms Division. This individual will work closely with the Housekeeping and Maintenance Team and be responsible for ensuring overall cleanliness and guest satisfaction are in line with IRHG standards. The Innkeeper will effectively lead, train, coach, motivate, engage, and provide feedback to the housekeeping.
The Innkeeper will have a strong focus on the housekeeping department and understand the drive to keep the property clean and up to the standards set by the General Manager and The Indigo Road Hospitality Group.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
- Acts with a sense of urgency, purpose, and direction.
- Speaks with and responds to guests regarding service challenges while showing compassion.
- Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
- Assist with the daily supervision of tasks, spot checks for quality, and guest satisfaction with room cleanliness.
- Assist Housekeeping, Houseperson, and Public Area Attendants as needed; cleaning public bathrooms, stocking carts, cleaning glassware, stripping rooms, and overall cleanliness of the property.
- Visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion for room.
- Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary.
- Oversee budgeting, P&L, rate strategy and front desk duties.
- Have a keen eye for detail as it relates to cleanliness and organization.
- Work with monitoring high potential team members and ensure their growth as leaders within the company.
- Communicate efficiently with their team, other departments, and leadership.
- Solid knowledge of staff planning and scheduling.
- Proactive, takes initiative; creatively problem solves, exercises good judgment; attention to details; anticipates and exceeds guest expectations.
- Counts, manages and maintains inventory for inn minibar items, cleaning materials and inn-linens.
- responsible for hiring and writing schedules for breakfast attendants, night auditors and housekeepers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred.
- Assisting with F&B duties when needed.
- Strive to maintain personal, staff and guest safety.
- Participates in activities and meetings.
- Establishes department daily meeting.
- Maintains regular property inspections with necessary department heads.
- Coordinates special projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Abilities, Skills, and Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of hospitality, rooms division, and F&B.
- Ability to make decisions with only general policies and procedures for guidance and keeping the General Manager informed of general direction.
- Requires highly developed communication skills in leading team members and guest satisfaction.
- Two (2) years related experience in hotel or similar environment.
- Hours Required: Fifty to Sixty hours over a five-day period; flexible; days and times may vary based on needs of Hotel. Hours based on business volume and needs, most weekends required.
- Requires knowledge of hospitality and business management fields.
- One year of employment in similar position or equivalent.
- Communication skills for leading team members and guest satisfaction.
- Must have excellent speech and written skills to communicate with managers, guests and team members.
- Organization and project skills
- Must have an eye for detail to visually inspect hotel.
- Must have mobility to walk through the front and back of the hotel, up and down stairs.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work an average of 55 hours a week
- Ability to stand and walk 90% of the time
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 40 lbs
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
- Constant receiving detailed information through oral and written communication
- Constant talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word in English
