This is an excellent opportunity for a college student who wants practical experience in marketing, communications, social media, healthcare, business development and community engagement.
About the Role
The Marketing & Community Engagement Intern will work closely with the business leadership team to support marketing activities, social media, community outreach and partnership development.
This is a hands-on role. You will have the opportunity to attend community events, meet local organizations, create marketing content and contribute ideas that directly support the growth and visibility of a local healthcare business.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Social Media
- Create engaging content for LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
- Develop social media posts, graphics, short videos and Reels using tools such as Canva.
- Help manage and maintain a social media and content calendar.
- Support the creation of flyers, newsletters, presentations and other marketing materials.
- Identify opportunities to increase local brand awareness and community engagement.
- Monitor social media engagement and prepare simple performance reports.
Community Engagement
- Research and identify local community organizations and engagement opportunities.
- Support outreach to senior centers, community groups, healthcare organizations, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living communities and other relevant organizations.
- Help coordinate and promote community events, educational sessions and outreach activities.
- Attend selected community events and represent Senior Helpers professionally.
- Help develop relationships with community partners and referral sources.
- Identify opportunities for Senior Helpers to contribute to local community initiatives.
Marketing & Business Development
- Conduct local market and competitor research.
- Help identify potential referral and partnership opportunities.
- Support community marketing campaigns across our service area.
- Assist with tracking outreach activities, contacts and outcomes.
- Contribute ideas for new campaigns and initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Currently enrolled in college or university, preferably studying Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, Media, Healthcare Administration or a related field.
- Creative and comfortable developing digital content.
- A strong communicator with excellent writing skills.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable using social media platforms.
- Familiar with Canva or willing to learn.
- Confident speaking with community organisations and members of the public.
- Professional, personable and enthusiastic.
- Able to work independently while also being comfortable working as part of a small team.
- Interested in healthcare, aging, senior care or community development.
Previous marketing experience is helpful but not required. We are particularly interested in students who are enthusiastic, creative and willing to learn.

You will gain experience in:
- Healthcare and senior-care marketing
- Social media and digital marketing
- Community engagement
- Partnership development
- Event marketing
- Local business development

- Working directly with business leadership
You will also have the opportunity to build a portfolio of real marketing and community engagement work that can support your future career.
Why Join Us?
You will be joining a growing local healthcare business where your ideas can have a visible impact. Rather than simply completing assigned social media tasks, you will have the opportunity to help shape our community presence, develop partnerships and contribute to real business growth. This is particularly suited to a student looking for practical experience in marketing, healthcare, communications, business development or community engagement.
Schedule
Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility around the student’s college schedule, this would initially be for 3-6months.
