HOME CARE AIDE DUTIES

• Companion Care & Engagement: Provide gentle companionship, assist with simple activities, and encourage regular hydration and meal times. Take initiative with light housekeeping and meal preparation for the household. Offer transportation or accompaniment for short outings or gentle drives.

• Memory & Cognitive Support: Monitor, document, and report any subtle changes in mental health status, behavior, or daily care needs. Engage client through calm, direct conversations about his past career, or offer interactive options like dominoes, cribbage, or reading aloud. 

• Supporting Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being: Client experiences periods of despondency, sadness, and occasional frustration. Maintain a calm, quiet demeanor, offer soft words of support, and gently redirect his attention when he feels down. If significant distress occurs, coordinate with family before offering prescribed medications.

• Mobility & Fall Prevention: Assist with safe indoor ambulation using his walking stick. Support light outdoor walks on smooth, level surfaces as tolerated.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a working Smartphone (PAID biweekly reimbursement)

• Read, write, and speak English at an average adult level.

• Driving/Transportation: Driving is an essential function of this position; must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle to perform client errands, transport clients and travel between client assignments when assigned.

  • Employees must maintain a valid driver's license, an acceptable motor vehicle record, access to a reliable vehicle, current vehicle registration, and automobile insurance meeting Company requirements.

• Must complete the CDSS-required Home Care Aide registration and Live Scan fingerprinting process

• Must satisfy the CDSS-required tuberculosis examination/documentation requirements
