Overview

The Staff Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities for a growing, multi-entity healthcare organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting AP and AR processes, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting and offers meaningful exposure to healthcare accounting, audits, and process improvement initiatives 

 

Key Responsibilities

    Core Accounting and Close

  • Record and maintain accurate general ledger entries for revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts and key clearing accounts
  • Support the monthly close process by preparing schedules, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready supporting documentation 

    Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support

  • Review and process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payment.
  • Support accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash application, and collections follow-up
  • Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policies 

    Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Prepare basic variance analysis and expense trend reporting to support management review.
  • Provide financial data and support for budgeting and forecasting activities 

    Compliance, Tax, and Audit

  • Assist with tax compliance activities, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax support
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests during financial and operational audits
  • Support the implementation of audit recommendations and internal control improvements 

    Process Improvement and Collaboration

  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and support operational needs. • Communicate financial information clearly and professionally to non-financial stakeholders 


Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP or IFRS)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of tax regulations and compliance is a plus
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is an advantage
