Diesel Technician

We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team and keep diesel-powered vehicles operating safely, reliably, and at peak performance. You'll work alongside an experienced team diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems while having access to modern diagnostic equipment, specialty tools, and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines and related mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Perform engine repairs, maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair fuel, cooling, air, exhaust, emissions, and after treatment systems.
  • Use advanced diagnostic equipment and scan tools to accurately identify mechanical and electronic issues.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs, including starting and charging systems.
  • Complete repair orders accurately and thoroughly, documenting repairs, parts used, and time spent.
  • Communicate clearly with service advisors regarding vehicle condition, recommended repairs, and completion timelines.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure repairs are completed correctly and vehicles are safe to operate.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with shop and OSHA standards.
  • Stay current with evolving diesel technology through manufacturer and in-house training.
  • Assist and mentor less-experienced technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working as a diesel mechanic or diesel technician.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Experience with diagnostic scan tools and computerized vehicle systems.
  • ASE certification(s) or manufacturer-specific certifications preferred.
  • Heavy-duty, commercial vehicle, fleet, or dealership experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
  • Own a set of personal hand tools; specialty tools and equipment provided by the dealership.
