Your role as Intern, Media Relations:          

You will be primarily responsible for coordinating press box operations while working with members of the Communications team to facilitate and complete any necessary tasks.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:                                   

  • Oversee press box operations for all home games at Petco Park
  • Responsible for the preparation of daily press box materials, including press clips, stat packs, rosters, lineup sheets, releases/advisories, etc.
  • Assist Communications staff with production of daily game notes, including away games remotely as needed
  • Support media, broadcasters and visiting media relations staff with various requests
  • Assist with credentialing and media parking as needed
  • Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:               

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, printer, telephone, and computer. Experience in Adobe InDesign a plus
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance

You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • Must be available to work all Padres home games at Petco Park (exceptions reasonable)
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime hours as needed
  • Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check

Pay and additional compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $21.14. Part time, non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
