Senior Project Manager
2001 Chicon Street, Austin, TX
Full Time
Sabre Commercial is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team in the Austin Office.
Sabre Commercial is an Austin-based general contractor serving Central Texas. Our work includes commercial interiors, healthcare, ground-up construction, retail, office, and other specialized commercial projects. We believe successful projects are built through strong relationships, proactive communication, accountability, and disciplined execution. We are looking for people who work collaboratively, take ownership, anticipate what comes next, and contribute positively to the team.
Position Summary
Sabre Commercial is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout.
The Senior Project Manager has primary responsibility for the overall success and financial performance of assigned projects. This position leads the project team, maintains strong client and design-team relationships, protects project milestones and profitability, manages contractual and financial risk, and ensures issues are identified and addressed before they negatively affect the project.
We are looking for a proactive project leader—not simply a project administrator. The right person understands where the project is going, what could get in the way, and what needs to happen next to keep the team moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Client Management
Own assigned projects from turnover through closeout. Lead the project team and serve as a primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. Establish clear expectations, drive accountability, and build client relationships that support repeat business.
Financial Performance
Own project financial performance, including budgeting, subcontractor buyout, commitments, cost management, forecasting, billing, change management, and project profitability. Maintain an accurate understanding of current financial performance and projected final cost and margin. Identify financial risks early and take appropriate corrective action.
Schedule & Milestone Management
Partner closely with the Superintendent to establish and protect project milestones and contractual completion dates. Understand the project schedule and proactively address procurement, design, owner, subcontractor, or other constraints that could affect project delivery.
Risk, Contract & Change Management
Understand project contracts, scope, qualifications, and commercial requirements. Identify and mitigate project risk, manage changes and cost impacts, maintain appropriate documentation, and ensure Sabre's contractual and financial interests are protected throughout the project.
Team Leadership & Proactive Execution
Lead and support Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers as a coordinated project team. Establish priorities, communicate clearly, resolve issues collaboratively, and create an environment of accountability. Anticipate project needs and drive issues to resolution rather than reacting after they affect cost or schedule.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial construction project management experience, with demonstrated responsibility for project financial performance and delivery
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, contracts, and project controls
- Demonstrated experience with project budgeting, forecasting, subcontractor buyout, change management, billing, and cost control
- Ability to read and understand architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction documents
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, milestones, procurement, and schedule risk
- Experience leading project teams and coordinating effectively with field operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Proficiency with construction project management technology; Procore experience strongly preferred
- Procore Financials experience is a significant plus as Sabre transitions its project financial management into Procore
- Ground-up commercial construction experience preferred
- Healthcare construction, renovation, and occupied-facility experience is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant construction experience will be considered
What We Value
Successful Sabre team members are proactive, collaborative, accountable, organized, and driven to succeed. They communicate early, contribute solutions, support their teammates, and take ownership of results.
We value Senior Project Managers who can see beyond today's task list—people who understand the next milestone, identify what could prevent the team from reaching it, and take action before an issue becomes a problem.
