Superintendent
2001 Chicon Street, Austin, TX
Full Time
Sabre Commercial is seeking a Superintendent to join our team in the Austin Office.
Sabre Commercial is an Austin-based general contractor serving Central Texas. Our work includes commercial interiors, healthcare, ground-up construction, retail, office, and other specialized commercial projects. We believe successful projects are built through strong relationships, proactive communication, accountability, and disciplined execution. We are looking for people who work collaboratively, take ownership, anticipate what comes next, and contribute positively to the team.
Position Summary
Sabre Commercial is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead the field execution of commercial construction projects from mobilization through final completion and closeout. Our Superintendents are typically assigned to one project at a time, allowing them to focus on safely and successfully driving that project to completion. The Superintendent is the field leader responsible for site operations, safety, quality, subcontractor coordination, schedule execution, and maintaining a clear path to project milestones and the contractual completion date. The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager and project team to identify and resolve constructability, procurement, design, and coordination issues before they affect the work.
We are looking for a proactive field leader—not someone who simply reacts to daily jobsite issues. The right person understands where the project needs to be next week and next month, identifies what could prevent the team from getting there, and takes action early to keep the project moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Project Execution
Own day-to-day field execution from mobilization through completion. Lead subcontractors and field personnel, establish clear expectations, coordinate the work, and maintain an organized and professional jobsite. Drive the project toward successful completion while maintaining productive relationships with owners, design professionals, subcontractors, inspectors, and the Sabre project team.
Schedule & Milestone Management
Own the field execution plan and maintain a clear focus on project milestones and the contractual completion date. Develop, maintain, and update project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and project team. Plan work in advance, communicate upcoming activities and identify schedule constraints early. Proactively address labor, procurement, design, inspection, owner-decision, and subcontractor issues that could affect project milestones.
Constructability, Coordination & Quality
Serve as the project's field constructability leader. Maintain a thorough understanding of the plans, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, and other contract documents. Coordinate trades, identify conflicts and constructability issues before installation, and ensure work is performed in accordance with project requirements and Sabre's quality expectations.
Safety & Site Management
Establish and maintain a safe, compliant, clean, and well-organized project site. Enforce Sabre's safety requirements and applicable regulations, conduct required safety activities, and address unsafe conditions or behaviors promptly. Coordinate site logistics, access, deliveries, inspections, and other activities necessary for efficient field operations.
Communication, Documentation & Proactive Execution
Maintain timely and accurate project documentation in Procore, including daily reports, weekly construction reports, photographs, inspections, safety documentation, as-builts, and other required field records. Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate clearly with the Project Manager and project team regarding progress, constraints, decisions, and upcoming needs. Escalate issues early and drive them toward resolution rather than allowing them to become schedule or cost impacts.
