We're hiring a Medication Technician ("Med Tech") to join our Assisted Living or Memory Care team. As a Med Tech, you'll be a primary provider of resident care and medication delivery, working alongside caregivers, nurses, and the broader care team to promote each resident's physical, personal, and emotional well-being. This role reports to the Director of Assisted Living or Director of Memory Care and assists with daily guidance of caregivers, though it does not include hiring or disciplinary authority.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct resident care services, including medication distribution, following each resident's individualized plan of care
- Perform resident assessments as required by state standards and facility policy
- Observe residents for changes in condition, document observations and red flags, and communicate timely to supervisors, families, and the next shift
- Complete and maintain individualized care plans; attend interdisciplinary care meetings
- Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, restorative nursing techniques, and behavioral support
- Encourage and assist residents with scheduled activities
- Support fall prevention and a restraint-free environment
- Oversee the medication delivery system, including order entry, MAR documentation, narcotic counts, and pharmacy coordination
- Assist with orienting, training, and coaching caregivers
- Attend in-service classes and staff meetings
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- At least one (1) year of related work experience
- Medication Technician certification as required by state regulations
- Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous, patient, and compassionate manner
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and clinical/diagnostic procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and perform fine manipulation throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and to carry, transfer, push, pull, and reposition residents with assistance or equipment
- Normal or corrected vision and hearing, including color recognition
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a well-lit, well-ventilated community setting, with occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, and noise
- Occasional outdoor exposure to weather and temperature changes
- Frequent interruptions and interaction with residents who may be emotionally distressed
- Flexibility to work beyond normal hours, on weekends, or in other roles as needed
