Position Title: Inside Parts Salesperson

Position Summary

The Inside Parts Salesperson is responsible for generating and supporting parts sales through both telephone and in-person customer interactions. This position assists customers with identifying, sourcing, quoting, and purchasing new and replacement parts while providing knowledgeable and professional customer service.

The Inside Parts Salesperson handles inbound parts inquiries and orders, assists customers at the parts counter, and proactively contacts existing and prospective customers to generate additional sales opportunities. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, following up on quotes and sales opportunities, and supporting the continued growth of the Parts Department.

The primary objective of the Inside Parts Salesperson is to increase parts sales and customer retention while providing excellent customer support, regardless of whether the interaction originates by phone or at the parts counter.

HIGH LEVERAGE ACTIVITIES (HLAs)

  • Identify, pursue, and maintain a consistent flow of potential and existing customers through inbound sales, outbound prospecting, follow-up, networking, and referrals.
  • Identify customer parts needs and provide accurate, timely solutions through both telephone and counter sales.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to increase parts sales, repeat business, and customer retention.
  • Meet or exceed established sales goals by identifying opportunities, following up on quotes and inquiries, and providing excellent customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Handle inbound telephone and counter inquiries by identifying customer needs and providing accurate parts information, pricing, and availability.
  • Research, source, and recommend appropriate parts and alternative solutions based on customer needs.
  • Prepare quotes and accurately process customer orders, payments, credit purchases, and sales transactions through the sales/inventory system.
  • Conduct proactive outbound sales calls and follow up on quotes, inquiries, and previous purchases to generate additional sales opportunities.
  • Answer customer questions regarding products, pricing, availability, product uses, and applicable credit terms.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through timely follow-up, professional communication, and dependable service.
  • Process parts returns, credits, and damaged items in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Assist with parts inventory, stocking, inventory verification, and maintaining accurate sales and inventory records.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, delivery, service, and other departments to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and timely.
  • Maintain current parts and product knowledge, follow company safety and departmental procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Data entry skills, telephone skills, customer focus, customer service, verbal communication, selling to customer needs, meeting sales goals, product knowledge, inventory control, professionalism, and job knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and sales skills with the ability to identify and respond to customer needs.
  • Ability to effectively handle both inbound customer inquiries and proactive outbound sales activities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as work effectively with customers, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The position is located in an office and shop environment as well as duties performed outside. Mobility of walking, standing, and bending is frequent. Dexterity, hearing, and talking requirements are constant. Visual ability to detect situations of concern is constant.

The employee will occasionally lift up to and over 50 pounds. Must be able to meet the public and make decisions. The position may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, and dirt. Travel may be required.
