Rhythm Outdoors
WHERE PRECISION MEETS PURPOSE
A Letter to the Future Senior Accountant
Rhythm Outdoors is not a club. It is the company that builds them. Today we operate three properties across the Texas Hill Country — Hog Heaven Sporting Club, Horseshoe Bay Sporting Club, and Packsaddle Precision & Training Facility — each with its own identity, each part of a single network. We were built to reconnect people to themselves, each other, and the natural world — through shooting sports, camaraderie, hunting, fishing, and great food and beverage. That is the work. That is the whole sentence.
Somebody has to keep all of that honest — the journal entries posted across five entities, the payroll run, the credit cards reconciled, the records straight. In a business built on trust, the person who keeps the ledger keeps the trust. This seat is that person — and you will not hold it alone. You work shoulder to shoulder with our Controller, backed by a CFO who works alongside the numbers rather than above them.
We will say the quiet part out loud: transactional accounting has a reputation for being soul-flattening — fluorescent lights, beige cubicles, a company you would never visit on a weekend. We built Rhythm on a different premise: that serious work and a life you actually enjoy are not competing interests. The standard here is high. The setting is the Texas Hill Country. And the company you would keep books for hosts hunts, teaches people to shoot, and builds rooms people genuinely want to be in — you included.
What follows is deliberately plain about the work: journal entries, payroll, reconciliations, records. If you read that list and feel a small, satisfying click — keep reading.
"Rhythm teaches people how to live, work, and play — restoring their connection to themselves, each other, and the natural world."
The Role at a Glance
As Senior Accountant, you own the daily and monthly transactional heartbeat of the Rhythm network — journal entries across five entities, payroll processing, the administrative side of onboarding teammates, month-end support, credit card reconciliation, and a bounded slice of office administration. You report to the Controller, with an engaged CFO carrying the strategic load — a financial team built on cadence: steady, precise, and never the reason the song falls apart.

WORK MODE
Hybrid or on-site — flexibility is built on trust, and the right person earns it quickly
A note on the work mode, because it matters: this seat can be hybrid or on-site, and where it lands depends entirely on the trust built with the right candidate. We are not a surveillance culture — we are a standards culture. Demonstrate that the work lands on time and the details hold, and the flexibility follows.
The Setup You Walk Into
-
- Clean Books — You inherit books that are current and tied out — no archaeology, no shoebox of horrors. Our hygiene is squeaky on purpose, and we intend to keep it that way.
- The Stack — Ramp for spend management, cards cleanly divided, POS data syncing to the ledger, and a disciplined structure across all five entities.
- Real Controls — Approvals, separation, and documentation already in place. You maintain a standard — you do not have to build one from rubble.
- A Working CFO — You are not alone in the numbers. Our CFO is a strong, active partner — reviewing, unblocking, and carrying the strategic load so you can carry the ledger.
- More Automation, Always — We layer in AI-driven automation continuously, with one goal: erase the drudge work, never the craft. This job should get better every quarter you hold it.
The Nuts and Bolts
We operate on clarity. These four domains are yours. We have kept them deliberately focused on the obvious, essential accounting work — because that is the job, and the job matters.
01. The Ledger
-
- The Journal — You post journal entries across five entities accurately and on time — the daily discipline the whole close depends on.
- The Reconciler — You own credit card reconciliation and support bank and balance-sheet reconciliations. Every card, every statement, every month — tied out.
- The Month-End Engine — You drive the recurring close checklist with the Controller — accrual support, schedules, and the follow-through that makes the close land on time.
02. Payroll & Onboarding
-
- The Payroll Runner — You process payroll accurately and on schedule. Our people never wonder whether their check is right — because of you.
- The Onboarding Admin — You handle the administrative side of bringing new teammates aboard — I-9s, W-4s, direct deposit setup, benefits paperwork — and you keep personnel records complete, current, and confidential.
- The Recordkeeper — You maintain employee and vendor records that would make an auditor relax — organized, documented, retrievable.
03. Payables & Documentation
-
- The AP Desk — You process vendor bills and payments on a disciplined cadence, keeping vendor files and approvals clean.
- The Receipt Wrangler — You chase down documentation with polite persistence — expense support, card receipts, the paper trail that keeps the books defensible.
04. The Right Hand
-
- The Controller’s Partner — You are the Controller’s trusted second — picking up ad hoc analysis, special projects, and the unglamorous tasks that keep the machine running.
- The Office Hand — You carry a bounded slice of office administration — call it ten to fifteen percent of the week. Small company; everyone carries a box, including the founder.
The Person, Not Just the Resume
You know the type, because you might be it: the person who feels a small, genuine satisfaction when the reconciliation ties on the first pass — and who can do that five entities deep, month after month, without losing the edge. We are looking for someone who chooses the grind and takes a quiet pride in it.
What Translates Directly
-
- Transactional Chops — Several years of hands-on accounting — journal entries, reconciliations, AP — in a real business with real deadlines.
- Payroll Experience — You have run payroll before, or you are close enough to learn ours fast — and you understand the discretion that work carries.
- Follow-Through — Month-end comes every month. You meet it quietly, keep the checklist honest, and ask for help before something slips — not after.
- An Appetite for AI — You genuinely enjoy what automation does to this work. You are not threatened by it — your value is judgment, and every task the machines take is a task you did not want.
- Volume, Chosen — Five entities of books is real volume. You have done volume before, you know how to pace it, and you would rather own all of it than a thin slice of someone else’s.
- Character — You will touch payroll and personal records. We hire for integrity first and verify it thoroughly.
What We Are Not Asking For
-
- A CPA or a Pedigree — We care that your work ties out — not where you went to school or whether you have letters after your name.
- Years You Do Not Have Yet — Precision and drive beat a long resume. If your work is exact and your standards are real, we'll teach you the rest.
What We Offer
Across all three properties we operate on the same five-pillar framework — Community, Lifestyle, Education, Adventures, and Restaurant & Retail — and the same three rules govern everything: Be Safe. No Politics. Be a Good Human. The finance seat is not exempt from the culture; it is one of its quiet anchors.
Compensation
-
- Base Salary — $80,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience, paid on the standard company payroll cadence.
- 401(k) Match — Employer match available — actual dollars in your retirement account, not a brochure promise.
- Paid Time Off — Generous PTO calibrated for this seat. We believe in real time off, not the kind people quietly cash in for hours.
- Health Insurance — Full eligibility begins after 90 days. The company covers up to 50% of the employee premium for PPO coverage.
The Part That Does Not Fit Most Accounting Job Descriptions
We are an outdoor membership network — and we treat our team as members, not staff. That changes the math on what a job here is worth.
-
- Property Access — Full use of all three Rhythm properties — Hog Heaven, HSBSC, and Packsaddle — under team-member terms. Sporting clays, pistol, precision rifle. Bring your kids.
- Hunting & Fishing — Access to our property network and partner ranches under team-member terms — whitetail, hogs, turkey, and upland in season, plus fly-fishing opportunities through our network.
- Off-Site Adventures — Periodic team and partner trips — destination shoots, hunts, and fishing trips. The network keeps building, and the finance team is not left at the office.
An Invitation
Keeping the ledger for Rhythm Outdoors is honest, load-bearing work — the quiet discipline underneath a company built on camaraderie, capability, and connection. If that reads like respect to you — because it is — we want to meet you.
One more thing, said plainly: we are not trying to fill this seat every eighteen months. We are trying to fill it once. If you are the kind of person companies keep losing — because the work got boring, the systems stayed broken, or the respect never came — understand that we built this seat, and this company, to be the place you stop leaving.
Send a resume and a brief letter. Tell us where you have worked, what you have owned, and what you are looking for in the next chapter. A few honest paragraphs will do. We will take it from there.
