SUMMARY
Ensure customer retention, profitability, and long-term brand trust through exceptional customer experience, teamwork, and operational execution. Guide customers and consumers into and through the purchase process while supporting a professional, efficient, and team-oriented showroom environment. Under the current Ford sales model, the Sales Consultant role is a team-based, hybrid position. Sales Consultants are expected to operate fluidly across customer engagement, product demonstration, delivery coordination, and operational support functions as business needs require. Team culture and customer experience are non-negotiable expectations of this role. Every customer is considered a store customer. Sales Consultants are expected to prioritize the success of the team and the store over individual preference, convenience, or credit, and to actively support teammates and customers as needed to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Sales Consultant will introduce themselves to all Customers and Consumers physically present at the dealership at the start of each interaction. The Sales Consultant will engage and re-engage Customers to initiate and support the purchase process, including vehicle presentation, test drives, product demonstrations, delivery coordination, and follow-up. Pricing, negotiations, and deal structure are controlled by Sales Management. The Sales Consultant supports this process by facilitating clear communication, professionalism, urgency, and transparency throughout the customer experience.
THE SALES CONSULTANT WILL:
Work with other members of the Ford Sales Team to achieve overall dealership and organizational success. Support Sales Managers and Finance Managers in the day-to-day execution of Ford sales activities. Embrace a process-driven culture by participating in the creation, education, review, and execution of dealership processes. Hold themselves accountable to established procedures, expectations, and standards. Actively support teammates and customers during peak traffic, deliveries, and operational coverage gaps. Provide feedback and agenda items, as requested, for required Variable Operations meetings.
KEY DUTIES:
- Greet, engage, and assist all customers promptly and professionally, regardless of source.
- Conduct complete vehicle walkarounds, presentations, and product demonstrations.
- Facilitate and manage test drives in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
- Engage sales management early in the sales process in accordance with dealership workflow and escalation guidelines.
- Support Sales Managers by presenting information clearly and accurately to customers.
- Present leasing options to every applicable new-vehicle customer and clearly explain the benefits, structure, and ownership considerations of leasing.
- Complete all required CRM and DMS documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
- Respond to initial online leads, phone calls, and customer inquiries as assigned.
- Coordinate vehicle deliveries, including vehicle readiness, customer orientation, and delivery follow-up.
- Demonstrate Ford technology, safety features, and ownership benefits.
- Assist with lot readiness, vehicle movement, gassing vehicles, staging, stocking-in vehicles, and basic merchandising.
- Print and install window stickers and assist with vehicle stock-in procedures.
- Coordinate or assist with vehicle cleaning, detailing, and delivery preparation.
- Support recon flow and vehicle movement as needed.
- Maintain Ford training, certification, and customer satisfaction standards.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Remain current on Ford programs, incentives, lease structures, and OEM initiatives, with the ability to accurately and confidently explain program details to customers.
- Maintain a consistently professional appearance that reflects the Ford brand and dealership standards. Shirts are expected to be worn tucked in. Acceptable footwear includes dress shoes or professional dress sneakers. Jeans are permitted on Fridays only.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace. Sales desks should remain free of clutter. Meals and food are to be stored and consumed in designated breakroom areas, not at sales desks.
- Safeguard all customer and dealership information by properly securing sensitive documents, digital records, and personal data in accordance with dealership policy and applicable regulations.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and preparedness for scheduled shifts, meetings, training, and customer appointments.
- Comply with all dealership policies, Ford brand standards, and federal, state, and local regulations governing vehicle sales and customer information.

- Maintain a professional appearance aligned with dealership and Ford brand standards during all scheduled work hours, including appropriate attire, grooming, and footwear as outlined in this job description.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and teamwork in all interactions with customers, teammates, and leadership. Actions or behaviors that undermine team culture or the customer experience are not acceptable.
- Follow established dealership processes related to customer engagement, management involvement, documentation, and delivery execution. Consistent adherence to process is required to ensure a high-quality and compliant customer experience.
- Protect customer privacy and dealership information at all times by properly securing sensitive documents, data, and digital systems in accordance with dealership policy and applicable regulations.
- Outside business interests or employment are permitted and respected, provided they do not interfere with scheduled work hours, customer engagement, performance of assigned duties, or the use of dealership resources. Personal business activities must not be conducted during working time or in a manner that detracts from the customer experience or team operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment that reflects positively on the Ford brand and supports an efficient showroom operation.
- Failure to consistently meet these standards may result in coaching, additional training, or corrective action, with the goal of supporting improvement and long-term success.
