Planned Parenthood Direct (PPD) is the digital arm of Planned Parenthood, delivering trusted sexual and reproductive health care via the Planned Parenthood Direct app and period tracking via the Spot On app. Our mission is to ensure accessible care for patients, whether they prefer virtual services or are unable to access in-person care.

 

We are at a pivotal stage in our growth and are looking to expand our reach, driving engagement, acquisition, and retention efforts while fostering relationships with Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country.

 

Summary of Role

PPD is looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial marketing leader to take our brand and marketing strategy to the next level and scale our impact. The Head of Marketing will be responsible for the entire patient marketing journey, overseeing brand awareness, patient acquisition, engagement, and retention. Reporting to the CEO, this role will also manage sales and marketing strategies targeted at Planned Parenthood affiliates, ensuring alignment with our broader organizational goals. 

 

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a proven ability to execute integrated marketing campaigns that deliver measurable results. This person will work closely with internal teams and external partners to drive PPD marketing efforts, build our brand, and ensure we meet the needs of both patients and affiliate partners. The ideal candidate will have digital health and start-up experience, be data-driven, entrepreneurial, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and deeply aligned to our mission and vision for the future of reproductive health.  

 

Compensation

$120,000 - $150,000 annually based on experience

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, patient acquisition, engagement, and retention, and meets the needs of Planned Parenthood affiliate partners

  • Lead cross-channel marketing campaigns across earned, owned, and paid channels to support business goals

  • Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure marketing initiatives deliver measurable impact

  • Align marketing initiatives with Planned Parenthood Direct’s mission and vision, ensuring consistency across all communications and campaigns

2. Brand Management:

  • Build and enhance the PPD brand, ensuring a consistent voice and visual identity across all platforms and communications

  • Collaborate with Planned Parenthood national office and affiliates to leverage national education and advocacy campaigns and develop co-marketing opportunities

  • Ensure the brand remains trusted and distinctive within the sexual and reproductive health space

3. Patient Acquisition, Engagement, and Retention:

  • Oversee the entire patient journey, from awareness to acquisition, engagement, and long-term retention

  • Grow patient acquisition through a diversified media mix of organic and paid sources, reducing PPD’s marketing costs while acquiring high-intent, qualified patients  

  • Leverage data and analytics to refine marketing tactics and drive personalized outreach efforts across paid and organic media, landing pages, email, push notifications, SMS, and more

  • With Product, optimize marketing funnels to improve conversion rates and lifetime value of patients

4. B2B (Affiliate) Marketing and Sales Support:

  • With Affiliate Ops, support sales and marketing efforts to increase affiliate adoption and usage of Planned Parenthood Direct’s services

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Planned Parenthood affiliates, ensuring marketing strategies align with their goals and priorities

  • Create sales support materials and regular reporting to communicate PPD’s value to affiliates and drive sales and renewals

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead a small, high-performing marketing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development

  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, finance, analytics, and clinical teams to align marketing efforts with business and patient care goals

  • Partner with data analytics, product, and clinical teams to ensure marketing strategies are informed by user insights and feedback

Qualifications + Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 4 years in a leadership role

  • 2+ years experience in start-ups and in digital health experience. Bonus points for experience in women’s health.

  • Proven track record in leading a comprehensive marketing program to drive business results 

  • Experience driving revenue of >$2M annually 

  • Experience owning and optimizing the full customer life cycle (customer acquisition, engagement, and retention) 

  • Deep expertise in digital marketing platforms and tools, with a particular focus on paid social, paid search, landing pages, email and SMS 

  • Experience in B2B sales or sales support and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with other departments

  • Data-driven mindset with experience in using analytics to inform decision-making and optimize marketing efforts

  • Entrepreneurial operator with a bias toward experimentation and learning 

  • Comfort in fast-paced environment; able to make decisions with limited information and anticipate future needs

  • Passion for sexual and reproductive health and a commitment to Planned Parenthood Direct’s mission
  • Travel is required depending on project needs
