Automotive Service Advisor
6001 Washington Avenue, Racine, WI
Full Time
Porcaro Ford is looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our Main Shop team. This full-time position is the primary connection between our customers and technicians - listening carefully, documenting concerns accurately, explaining recommendations clearly, and keeping each customer informed from check-in through vehicle delivery.
Automotive service-advisor experience is preferred, but we will consider a high-potential candidate with strong experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, parts, repair, estimating, insurance, or another fast-paced role that requires communication, organization, and follow-through. We are willing to train the right person who is professional, comfortable discussing repairs and costs, and committed to doing what is right for the customer.
What You Will Do
- Greet service customers promptly and create a professional, welcoming check-in experience.
- Listen to customer concerns, ask useful questions, review service history, and document accurate repair-order notes.
- Prepare clear estimates and explain maintenance and repair recommendations in plain language without pressure.
- Obtain customer authorization before work is performed and document approvals accurately.
- Monitor each repair order throughout the day, coordinate with technicians, parts, warranty, and management, and keep customers updated.
- Set realistic expectations for diagnosis, parts availability, repair timing, transportation, and final cost.
- Review technician inspection results and present needed work in a clear, prioritized, customer-focused way.
- Follow up on declined services, open estimates, missed appointments, and completed repairs as assigned.
- Verify that completed work and charges match the repair order before delivery; explain the final invoice and next maintenance steps.
- Maintain complete notes, status updates, promised times, authorizations, and next actions in dealership systems.
- Help manage open repair-order aging by identifying delays, owning customer communication, and escalating stalled work promptly.
- Protect customer trust, dealership standards, and warranty/compliance requirements in every interaction.
Daily Expectations
- Be ready for the scheduled shift and daily service meeting; maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Review the day's appointments, carryover work, promised completion times, parts holds, and vehicles awaiting approval.
- Provide proactive updates at agreed times - even when there is no new repair status to report.
- Keep the work queue organized and close completed repair orders accurately and promptly.
- Work cooperatively with Paul Pedrosa and the service team so jobs are assigned, repaired, and delivered efficiently.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a calm, respectful customer-service approach.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, time management, and comfort handling frequent interruptions.
- Ability to explain recommendations and costs clearly while respecting the customer's decisions.
- Basic computer, email, text, and data-entry proficiency; willingness to learn dealership systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet dealership driving-record requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work a full-time, on-site weekday schedule within the service department's operating hours.
Preferred
- Automotive service advisor, service writer, assistant service manager, warranty, parts, technician, or dealership experience.
- Ford dealership, repair-order, DMS, digital vehicle inspection, estimating, or manufacturer-system experience.
- Demonstrated success in customer satisfaction, sales, retention, or performance-based service work.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a full-time, on-site position scheduled within Main Shop service hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, closed. The exact daily schedule and meal period will be established by management based on department coverage and business needs.
Estimated annual earnings are $60,000-$100,000 based on performance under Porcaro Ford's approved Service Advisor pay plan. The plan is designed to reward customer-pay and warranty gross profit, accurate process execution, customer satisfaction, and team results. This range is an estimate, not a guarantee. The complete written pay plan will be reviewed before an offer is accepted.
Training, Benefits, and Growth
- Paid on boarding and training in Porcaro Ford's service process, repair-order standards, customer communication, and dealership systems.
- Ford product, warranty, maintenance, and technology training as applicable.
- Weekday Main Shop schedule with the department currently closed on weekends.
- Established local customer base supported by experienced technicians, parts, warranty, Quick Lane, and management teams.
- Opportunities to grow into senior advisor, warranty, dispatch, lane leadership, or service-management responsibilities based on performance and business needs.
