PlanITROI is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Senior Accountant with a strong foundation in traditional accounting and operational finance. This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about mentoring and developing junior team members. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in leading day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and helping elevate the capabilities of the broader finance team.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing the accounting month-end close process—preferably within an IT Services, ITAD, or manufacturing environment—and a strong understanding of eCommerce platforms, high-volume transactions, and sales tax compliance. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and uphold accounting best practices.

Mission of the Role: Support the CFO in overseeing daily accounting operations with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and team development, while decreasing the time it takes to execute a complete and accurate month-end close process.
Core Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Month-End Close:
- Lead the full month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement generation
- Analyze monthly financial results to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and adherence to internal control standards
- Assist with year-end financial and banking audit requirements, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring efficient workflows and team support
- Monitor and ensure timely application of customer payments; investigate and resolve billing discrepancies
- Reconcile daily banking and credit card activity to maintain accurate cash flow records
eCommerce & Inventory Control Accounting:
- Manage general ledger activity related to all eCommerce platforms (e.g., Amazon, eBay, Groupon, Target, Walmart, Newegg)
- Reconcile eCommerce platform data with payment processors (e.g., PayPal) and accounting systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite)
- Record and apply customer payments, including credit card, PayPal, wire, and cash transactions
- Investigate and resolve billing issues, cash application variances, and customer charge-backs
- Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory valuation using appropriate methodologies (e.g., FIFO, weighted average)
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory control processes and systems
Operational & Compliance Support:
- Strengthening internal accounting controls and supporting ongoing audit readiness
- Assist with external audit processes, including the preparation of documentation and schedules
- Manage setup and maintenance of customer/vendor accounts, purchase orders, sales orders, and invoicing within accounting systems
- Prepare ad hoc reports, support digital documentation and filing processes, and assist with general accounting functions as needed
- Ensure timely preparation and filing of sales tax returns following monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA designation preferred but not mandatory
- 5/7+ years of experience in a senior accounting role
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial audit procedures, with hands-on experience supporting external audits
- Proficient in accounting systems including QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Direct experience with eCommerce platforms such as Amazon Seller Central, eBay, Groupon, Walmart Marketplace, and related integration
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Solid understanding of multi-state sales tax compliance and nexus requirements
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong cross-functional collaboration
- Industry experience in IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), IT services, or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred

The expected annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000. This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus. actual compensation may be based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, education, and location.
