Senior Accountant Overview: PlanITROI is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant who is deadline-driven, focused, and able to manage the business's day-to-day accounting functions. The successful candidate must have proven experience and expertise in accounting with an IT Services company. This person will be responsible for performing and managing the day-to-day accounting functions under strict principles and standards. You will be expected to manage multiple responsibilities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining an elevated level of accuracy and quality in your work.
The mission of this role is to support our Controller with managing and performing daily accounting functions, including the validation and support of Payroll & Benefits, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and the complete process for month-end close within 12 business days.
This role is remote in the United States, in the EST/CST
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing month-end close processes, including the preparation and analysis of financial results while ensuring timely and accurate completion of the close cycle within 12 business days.
- Overseeing the general ledger, ensuring all e-commerce sales transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to review and enhance current inventory control with the Controller’s guidance.
- Maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage the recording and processing of the day-to-day AP and AR transactions.
- Post customer payments by recording cash, credit card, PayPal, and wire transactions.
- Research and resolve cash applications, billing issues, and customer charge-backs.
- Responsible for customer account management – responding to all customer and vendor phone calls and emails to resolve issues/discrepancies.
- Enter sales orders and vendor PO’s, create invoices for employee sales.
- Analyze and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, assigned balance sheet accounts and other general ledgers.
- Perform daily reconciliation of banking transactions and research/resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate with sales team to collect customer balances.
- Send customer statements and notices of open past due balances, assist with AR collections, and maintain current AR balances.
- Reconcile T&E, Amex, Petty Cash, and prepaid accounts.
- Prepare wire transfers in bank portal.
- Prepare and distribute daily cash position to management.
- Prepare assigned EOM journal entries.
- Assist with general accounting support as needed, Ad Hoc reports, phone calls, vendor and client set-up in accounting system, and electronic filing.
- Manage EOY Financial and Bank Audit requests.
Experience and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of Accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Must have experience managing month-end close processes, including preparation and analysis of financial results.
- Experience in eCommerce sales and inventory control needed.
- Must have experience in sales tax.
- Experience in ITAD, or the manufacturing industry desired.
- Detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
- Ability to identify accounting process improvements while leading action plan development for implementation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote working environment.
- Experience in QuickBooks and NetSuite desired.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel.
