Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Key Responsibilities

Shipping Duties

• Prepare and package outgoing parts orders for shipment (UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, etc.)
• Process shipping labels and documentation
• Coordinate deliveries with vendors, technicians, and customers
• Verify accuracy of outgoing orders

Receiving Duties

• Receive incoming shipments of parts and accessories
• Inspect deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies
• Verify received items against purchase orders and invoices
• Report and resolve shipping errors or damaged goods

Inventory Management

• Accurately enter received parts into inventory systems
• Label and stock parts in correct warehouse or bin locations
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits
• Maintain organized and clean storage areas

Parts Department Support

• Assist parts counter staff with pulling orders
• Deliver parts to service technicians promptly
• Return cores and warranty parts according to manufacturer guidelines
• Handle returns to vendors

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills (inventory systems, shipping software)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lift heavy parts (often 25–75 lbs)
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license (for dealer trades or local deliveries)

Preferred Experience

• Experience in automotive parts or warehouse environments
• Familiarity with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, etc.)
• Knowledge of shipping carriers and logistics processes

Work Environment

• Fast-paced dealership parts department or warehouse
• Frequent standing, lifting, and moving throughout the day
• Indoor and occasional outdoor exposure (receiving areas)

Typical Work Schedule

• Full-time hours
• May include early mornings, evenings, or Saturdays depending on dealership needs
