Staff Accountant

Portsmouth Corporate Financial Services Inc (PCFSI) – Portsmouth, NH

 

Position Summary

Portsmouth Corporate Financial Services Inc (PCFSI) provides centralized accounting and financial services to a growing portfolio of hospitality properties, including the Opal Collection. We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team.

 

This role offers strong exposure to multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, and audit support, with opportunities for career growth.

 


 

Work Environment

  • Work arrangement: In-office in Portsmouth, NH
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours; additional time may be required during month-end close and audit periods

 


 

Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries (including payroll, accruals, and reclasses)
  • Process sales and use tax filings
  • Maintain and reconcile prepaid and accrued expense schedules
  • Identify, research, and resolve account discrepancies
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits
  • Generate financial, statistical, and operational reports
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Respond to internal inquiries and resolve issues in a professional, service-oriented manner

 


 

Staff Accountant Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Prior general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or hotel accounting experience a plus)
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
