Barback

A barback is a bartender’s assistant responsible for supporting bar operations, maintaining stock, and ensuring a clean, efficient service environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Bartenders: Support bartenders by prepping ingredients, refilling ice bins, restocking drinks, and retrieving supplies as needed
• Stock and Inventory Management: Keep the bar stocked with liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, and other essentials; monitor inventory and notify management when supplies are low 
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including wiping surfaces, washing glassware, sweeping, mopping, and handling spills; ensure equipment is in good working order 
• Customer Support: Occasionally assist in serving drinks and interacting with customers while maintaining a professional demeanor 
• Special Tasks: Change beer kegs, prepare garnishes, polish glasses, and perform opening and closing duties; handle minor repairs and emergency situations like broken glass or clogged drains

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Physical stamina to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods 
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
• Good communication and customer service skills 
• Knowledge of bar equipment, supplies, and basic drink preparation is preferred but not always required 
• High school diploma or equivalent is typically required
