Orthopaedic Associates is a fastgrowing, patientcentered orthopedic practice dedicated to providing exceptional care across the Emerald Coast. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate LPN Triage Nurse to join our team in Fort Walton Beach.


Position Summary

The LPN Triage Nurse serves as a key point of contact for patients, providing clinical triage, care coordination, patient education, and ongoing communication with providers. This position requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment.


What You Will Do

  • Answer and triage incoming patient calls; assess symptoms and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Provide patient education and instructions following provider protocols.
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, and diagnostic testing.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in the EMR (Athena preferred).
  • Communicate effectively with providers regarding patient concerns and follow-up needs.
  • Assist with prescription refills and prior authorizations.
  • Respond to patient messages via EMR and phone.
  • Support clinical staff with administrative and patientcare tasks.
  • Manage Home Health scheduling, orders, postcare communication, and coordination with agency liaisons.
  • Assist with FMLA, ShortTerm Disability, and AFLAC communications.
  • Schedule daily appointments and participate in voicemail rotation.

Requirements

  • Strong clinical judgment and decisionmaking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to multitask and manage high call volumes.
  • Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Dependable attendance and professionalism.
  • EMR experience required; Athena experience preferred.
  • Participation in quality improvement and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current Florida LPN license.
  • Active BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience (orthopedics or triage preferred).
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and lastminute schedule adjustments.

Working Environment

  • Primarily deskbased with extensive phone and computer use.
  • Occasional standing or walking within the clinic.
  • Fastpaced environment with frequent interruptions.
