Summary

 

The Sr. Associate - Lab Processes is responsible to monitor and ensure compliance and execution of NWF lab processes. 

 

 

Essential Functions

 

 

  • Evaluate efficacy of traditional NWF methods. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate laboratory programs (e.g. finished product and raw material testing - chemical, physical and microbiological testing).
  • Develop new microbiological, chemical and physical methods and procedures. 
  • Provide leadership, training and support to plant based quality personnel
  • Negotiate with vendors for lowest prices.
  • Utilize laboratory data to prepare reports, graphs and charts for management and work with regional and division quality managers to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide data analysis and trending of data.
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting formulation issues related to chemical, physical and/or microbiological analysis.
  • Develop lab personnel training including personal safety.
  • Conduct lab audits and audit lab technician job performance through observation and proficiency testing.
  • Assist with research and development work on development and implementation of new methods.
  • Position requires frequent travel of at least 50%, in some cases on short notice, with the ability to stay over weekends.  Travel will include domestic assignments and may include and international assignments.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as specified.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, regulatory or research & development. 
  • Excellent math skills as well as general knowledge of statistical data analysis preferred.
  • Experience with GMP, HARPC and GFSI standards desired.
  • Strong communication, analytical abilities, organization skills preferred.

 

 

Work Environment

  1. General office setting
  2. Periodic exposure to: (1) loud environment, (2) airborne particles with stronger odors associated with spicy food ingredients, (3) cold, hot, wet and humid conditions, (4) walking and standing on concrete, (5) climbing steps, ladders, (6) standing on elevated surfaces.
  3. Fast paced, resource lean environment
  4. May require periodic work during extended shifts, nights and weekends.
  5. May require emergency travel.
  6. May require travel over a weekend.
