This position is responsible for assisting in all production logistics and operations elements of programs, installations and special events produced and presented by the Arts, Culture and Engagement (ACE) and Tenant & Partner Engagement (TPE) teams. The production assistant (PA) is comfortable with multiple projects and aggressive deadlines, has strong organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. The event PA is a natural collaborator and is eager to learn. This is a part time, seasonal, project-based position.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General assistance with the planning and day-of coordination of special events
  • Interface with performers/vendors and communicate technical and logistical needs to Navy Pier trade unions
  • Function as a Stage Manager of Navy Pier performance platforms and stages wherein duties would include:
  • Facilitate load in and out contracted performers and equipment
  • Coordinate with Navy Pier Stagehands meal breaks
  • Be proactive and assist Producer/Artists
  • Maintain and update signage as needed
  • Ensure all acts start and end on time
  • Completing daily reports and taking on-site photographs
  • Facilitate customer services such as answering basic guest questions regarding programs and Navy Pier
  • Field phone calls from artists, vendors and other departments while on-site
  • General office and administrative duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this role include:

EDUCATION

  • College Degree preferred or High School Diploma and minimum of 2 years previous experience in stage management, special event management, live entertainment, or similar field.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of large-scale event or festival, and/or performing arts planning and management experience.

  • Demonstrates competency to operate standard office equipment such as personal communication devices (tele and/or mobile phones/radios and fax machines), desk/laptop computers, digital imaging or photo copying equipment, and other office-related equipment on a regular basis.
