The System Administrator, Technical Services reports to the Senior Director of IT. The System Administrator assists on a team with the implementing and maintaining of the computing resources and network, including, but not limited to servers, hosted applications, data protections, LANs, WANs, and Wireless networks across the enterprise to ensure compatibility and integration with IT strategies and Agency business plans.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • System Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, server hardware, and software applications.

    • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance.

    • Implement patches, updates, and security configurations.

  • Network Management:

    • Assist as part of a team to maintain the organization's network infrastructure.

    • Monitors network performance and addresses connectivity issues.

  • Security:

    • Assist as part of a team to maintain security measures to protect systems and data.

    • Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities.

  • User Support:

    • Provide technical support to end-users and address IT-related inquiries including Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and other end user applications.

    • Assist with the setup and configuration of user accounts and permissions.

    • Train users in system and software usage.

  • Backup and Recovery:

    • Assist in backup and disaster recovery procedures.

    • Assess and verify data backups to ensure data integrity.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with IT team members and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems.

    • Communicate effectively with end-users and management regarding system outages, upgrades, and changes.

QUALIFICATIONS 

The minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this role include: 

EDUCATION

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or other related fields.

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in having a critical role in infrastructure systems and network support.

  • Strong knowledge of server and network hardware, protocols, and technologies.

    • In-depth knowledge of current Microsoft Server Operating Systems, SQL, Active Directory Service and its Roles and Features

    • VMWare Virtualization

    • LAN/WAN (Meraki, Cisco Networking, Wireless, VPN, VLANS, Routers, Firewalls, & etc.)

    • Business Continuity and Backup/Disaster Recovery (Datto, Veeam, etc.)

    • Server Hardware (Planning, Configurations, Builds, and Troubleshooting)

  • Strong Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

    • Server Storage (SAN, NAS, etc.)

    • ServiceDesk Plus or comparable ticket system

    • SentinelOne, Windows Defender or comparable anti-virus solutions. Furthermore, experience in working with EDR & MDR solutions.

    • Print Management

    • MFA products, Proofpoint, UPS, KnowBe4 & product licensing.

  • Desired security knowledge with Genetec, Abloy and Axis.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus.

  • Experience to lead in keeping all endpoint equipment up to date to be secure and in compliance through an Endpoint Management tool.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Certifications are highly desirable.

    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

    • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

  • Cisco Certifications are highly desirable.

    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • VMware Certifications are highly desirable.

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Security+ or equivalent are highly desirable.

  • ITIL v4 Certification preferred (A framework for an integrated set of best practices that can assist businesses in delivering IT services to users.)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to multitask, work on multiple issues and projects simultaneously.

  • The ability to work in a time-sensitive, high-visibility environment.

  • Experience leading in patching and keeping end-user devices secure and in full compliance.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, people skills, and a commitment to quality and customer service. 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 Administration or related software.

  • Annual Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires the ability to work extended (long hours) during a normal work week. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary and required. Must be available 24/7-365 to respond to on-call emergencies. Work is primarily performed in a normal office environment. Since work is sometimes performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, one must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures or inclement weather and be able to withstand working long hours in inclement weather conditions.
