JOB SUMMARY:
The Partnerships Manager role is a full-time position, reporting to the VP of Development and collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Sponsorships which leads the execution for partnership giving at Navy Pier. Responsibilities include providing key support securing and stewarding corporate sponsorship, assisting with fundraising events, and collaborating with the Marketing, Brand Activation, and Arts, Culture, and Engagement (ACE) teams. As a member of the Pier’s Resource Development team, the Partnerships Manager engages in strategy for prospecting new sponsors, engaging current sponsors, and executing benefit fulfillment and thoughtful reporting to partners. This individual will be a proud representative of Navy Pier in the community and is committed to the Pier’s core values of excellence, integrity, inclusion, and stewardship.
 
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • With the leadership of the VP of Resource Development and Director of Marketing and Sponsorship, envision, craft, and deliver tailored partnership proposals inclusive of mission-driven programming, opportunities for support, timelines, budgets, and benefits
  • Maintain internal tracking of agreed upon visibility and hospitality sponsorship benefits and connect with team members across multiple departments to ensure timely execution of marketing, engagement, and event-based benefits; serve as primary liaison with partners on all aspects of sponsorship execution
  • Generate and distribute impact reports based on established timeframes and/or partnership milestones
  • Research the objectives of current and prospective donors, and purposefully cultivate a portfolio of 25-50 relationships that are mutually aligned with the Pier’s and prospective supporters’ mission and vision
  • Works to build pipeline that authentically grows partnership support with data-driven benchmarks, including renewal rate and dollars raised
  • Support leadership staff in the preparation of meeting and presentation materials and customized stewardship touchpoints for partners
  • Administer partner contract fulfillment and servicing, maintaining accurate and up-to-date development records and donor recognition preferences
  • Manage correspondence for current and prospective institutional donors and oversee compliance with reporting requirements based on relationship and grant parameters
  • Update donor records and information relating to partnership and cultivation/solicitation activity in the Pier’s CRM database Raisers Edge NXT
  • With guidance from leadership, draft and execute sponsor agreements, ensuring that invoicing is addressed and relevant terms and necessary documentation is shared with the appropriate internal teams
  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Sponsorships and Marketing Manager, develop and oversee the implementation of marketing strategy for the Pier’s partnership giving, including but not limited to printed collateral, website presence, and updated giving opportunities, maintaining consistency with brand guidelines
  • Provide planning and logistical support to the Resource Development and ACE teams for special donor events and community engagement projects
  • Ensure alignment across departments on sponsorship efforts that advance the Pier’s mission and overall strategy
  • Partner closely with the Resource Development team to advance philanthropic strategy and foster a culture of philanthropy among staff, board volunteers, and other key stakeholders
  • Support the mission of Navy Pier and uphold organizational priorities as stated. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
EXPECTATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
As a key member of the Navy Pier Resource Development team, the Partnerships Manager is expected to:
  • Uphold Navy Pier’s mission to welcome all and offer dynamic and eclectic experiences through partnerships and programs that inspire discovery and wonder
  • Attend performances/events as required and share staffing responsibilities with the team
  • Participate in regular team meetings, share ideas, and communicate openly with peers and supervisor about questions, challenges, and successes
  • Represent the Pier positively in interactions with guests, donors, and partner organizations
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 3+ years of experience in non-profit administration, fundraising, or a related field, including experience with executing sponsorships
  • Track record of setting and meeting revenue goals
  • Strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across departments
  • Capacity to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Sensitivity to and ability to retain confidential information
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, InDesign, and Raisers Edge

Work Environment:
Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary and required. Work is performed in a normal office environment, but may be required to entertain current and prospective donors in local areas restaurants or at major Navy Pier events.
