JOB SUMMARY

This is a full-time Marketing Manager position with a minimum of three days in the office per week. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Sponsorship. Primary responsibilities include: management of Agency deliverables and relationships, development of marketing and advertising materials, collaboration on Email Marketing strategy, and support of Partner, Tenant and Sponsorship marketing relationships.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead Agency relationships and manage all deliverables on a day-to-day level including Advertising (briefing, creative, production, copywriting, color/brand checking, proofing, video direction, website, etc.), Media Buying (briefing, creative liaison, reporting), and Contractors (designers, photographers, etc.) to stay on brand, on brief, and on time.
  • Responsible for the development of creative briefs (including copywriting) as well as review and approval for program, event, and collateral marketing and advertising materials.
  • Manage Agency budgets to ensure accurate fulfillment against scope of work, invoicing, and planning.
  • Maintain and distribute updates to internal parties of in-market creative/promotions against visitation, per caps and donations; collect feedback regularly and recommend ways to improve/optimize internal collaboration accordingly.
  • Collaborate on email marketing strategy, execution, segmentation, tagging, growth, and measurement in line with broader Marketing and Communications strategy.
  • Support Partner, Tenant, and Sponsorship relationships via execution of marketing deliverables.
  • Identify, report, and make recommendations for any additional paid media needed for supplemental support of Marketing and Communications.
  • Manage key Navy Pier collateral materials such as the Visitor Guide, postcards, outreach materials, etc.
  • Lead outreach efforts, as needed, which may include parades, external sponsorship opportunities, fairs, festivals, etc.
  • Attention to detail, interdepartmental relationship building, strong written and oral communications skills including copywriting are critical for this role.
  • Set clear expectations for all key parties.
  • Ensure that all internal and external messages are supportive of and consistent with Navy Pier’s mission and values.
  • Monitor brand coverage for competitors, partners, and related industries and report back to department.
  • Prepare presentations, sponsorship proposals and recap reports, speaking points, key messaging, and other prep materials as requested.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications Coordinator to gather and share information from various internal departments (Arts, Culture and Engagement (ACE), Resource Development, Operations, Partner Tenants, etc.) to integrate content for web, promotions, and advertising use.
  • Execute basic tasks required for various projects and marketing initiatives, including the following:
    • Copywriting, proofing, color-checking, brand alignment
    • Research
    • Industry and Agency reports and billing
    • Monthly marketing reports
    • Database management
    • Google Analytics reporting  
    • PowerPoint presentations
    • General administrative duties
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by manager

QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this role include:

EDUCATION

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree. Recommended in the field of business, marketing, communications, or advertising.

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum three to five years of experience in Marketing or Branding, emphasizing advertising, email marketing, and/or copywriting.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience or familiarity in non-profits, cultural institutions, tourism industry and/or public relations agency.
  • Prefer experience in briefing, reviewing, and approving creative.
  • Experience at an Advertising, Branding, and/or Digital Marketing Agency.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be available to work on-site at Navy Pier a minimum of three days per week with manager’s approval. On-site work requirements will flex based on the time of year and scope of activities. Must be willing to work on-site up to five days per week when needed to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work flexible/unconventional hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
  • Attention to detail, interdepartmental relationship building, strong written and oral communications skills are critical for this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and time/resources efficiently
  • Self-starter spirit with the ability to execute assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires the ability to work extended (long hours) during a normal work week. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary and required. Work is primarily performed in a normal office environment. Since work is sometimes performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures or inclement weather.
