NCA is looking for an Adult Independence Consultant in the Chicago area. This position requires a professional with a background in counseling or an education-related field to work collaboratively with families, financial advisors, community agencies, higher education institutions, and medical providers in the best interests of individuals with unique needs. Candidates must be motivated professionals who can creatively strategize for individual clients by developing comprehensive plans that maximize adult independence skills, support the transition to adulthood, including community integration, employment, and continued education, while strengthening skills for instrumental activities of daily living.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in education, counseling, or social work
- Possess a strong understanding of 18+ education programs through public and private school systems
- Familiar with college and career readiness programs
- Experience working with students with executive functioning challenges
- Familiar with special education processes, including referrals, evaluations, IEP development and implementation, and recommended placement determinations
- Flexibility to travel and attend client meetings
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organization and management skills
- Possess a willingness to collaborate with others respectfully and efficiently to reach desirable outcomes for clients
- Ability to problem-solve and independently research potential solutions while addressing programming that may be affected by medical needs
- Strong computer skills
