Job Title

General Manager — Napleton Chevrolet Buick GMC of Beaver Dam

Location

Beaver Dam, WI

Employment Type

Full-time, exempt

About Us

Napleton Automotive Group operates franchise dealerships across the Chicagoland and Wisconsin markets, representing ten brands including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hyundai, Genesis, Ford, and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. We're a family-owned group that runs like a modern retailer — we invest in data infrastructure, marketing technology, and process so our leaders can make decisions with real numbers instead of gut feel.

Beaver Dam is a strong, community-rooted store with room to grow. We're looking for a General Manager of our Chevrolet Buick & GMC Dealership.

Position Overview

The General Manager holds full accountability for the performance of the dealership — new and used vehicle sales, F&I, fixed operations, and the customer experience across all of it. You'll own the store's financial results, build and develop the management team, and set the operating standards the rest of the staff works to.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The right person is on the floor, in the service drive, and in the numbers.

What You'll Own

Financial performance

  • Full P&L accountability: gross, expense control, and net-to-sales
  • Build and manage the monthly forecast; hit it
  • Manage new and used inventory investment, aging, and turn
  • Oversee floor plan, and personnel cost as a percentage of gross

Variable operations

  • Drive new and pre-owned volume against market opportunity and factory objectives
  • Manage used vehicle acquisition, appraisal discipline, reconditioning cycle time, and pricing to market
  • Hold F&I accountable for PVR, product penetration, and compliance
  • Maintain a healthy desk process and a closing culture that doesn't rely on discounting

Fixed operations

  • Grow service and parts gross through effective hours per RO, technician productivity, and shop capacity management
  • Protect and grow customer-pay traffic; manage warranty and internal appropriately
  • Own service absorption as a core metric

Manufacturer relationships

  • Represent the store with General Motors: sales objectives, incentive programs, facility standards, and stair-step attainment
  • Maximize GM program earnings and maintain compliance with brand standards
  • Own CSI and manufacturer survey performance

People and culture

  • Recruit, hire, coach, and hold accountable the entire management team — Sales, F&I, Service, and Parts
  • Build a bench; develop managers who could run a store themselves
  • Reduce turnover through real training and clear expectations, not just pay plans
  • Set the tone on ethics, transparency, and how customers get treated

Compliance and process

  • Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations including Wisconsin DOT and DMV requirements, Safeguards Rule, Red Flags, TILA, and advertising compliance
  • Maintain accurate reporting and clean deal jackets
  • Partner with the group's centralized marketing, data, and accounting teams

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Minimum 3 years as a Dealership General Manager, General Sales Manager, or equivalent P&L leadership role in automotive retail
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and act on a dealership financial statement
  • Proven track record of growing gross and net profit, not just volume
  • Experience managing both variable and fixed operations
  • Strong understanding of used vehicle acquisition and market-based pricing
  • Ability to recruit and develop department managers
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to submit to a background check and pre-employment screening

Preferred

  • General Motors franchise experience and familiarity with GM programs, reporting, and stair-step structures
  • Experience with a modern DMS and CRM (we use DriveCentric, and we're implementing Tekion)
  • Comfort with data-driven management — dashboards, digital marketing metrics, and lead attribution
  • Wisconsin market knowledge
  • Experience in a multi-rooftop group environment

The intangibles that actually matter

  • You're competitive and you keep score
  • You'd rather fix a broken process than work around it
  • You can hold people accountable without burning them out
  • You're comfortable being visible to customers, staff, and the factory

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary plus performance-based bonus tied to store net profit — total earning potential commensurate with results
  • [Insert target total comp range]
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts
  • Demo or vehicle allowance
  • Advancement opportunity across a growing multi-rooftop group
