Center Associate – Customer Service & Sales

The Center Associate delivers world-class customer service by receiving and processing packages for shipment, operating printing and finishing equipment, and assisting customers with The UPS Store’s products and services.

This is a highly customer-facing position. Associates are expected to identify customer needs, recommend appropriate products and services, and confidently explain best-value solutions while contributing to store sales and growth.

The ideal candidate has previous retail, customer service, and/or sales experience, strong computer skills, a friendly and professional demeanor, and a willingness to learn. We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, a fast learner, sales-minded, and interested in long-term employment and growth with our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivers outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries

• Practices strong listening and communication skills with customers, team members, and leadership

• Takes ownership of customer needs and provides appropriate solutions

• Identifies opportunities to recommend additional products, services, upgrades, and best-value options

• Uses a consultative sales approach rather than simply processing transactions

• Learns all products, services, procedures, equipment, and software quickly

• Takes initiative and completes responsibilities without requiring constant direction

• Follows through on assigned tasks and communicates progress or concerns to management

• Operates equipment, software, and point-of-sale devices accurately and confidently

• Maintains a clean, organized, professional, and safe working environment

• Supports team members and adapts to changing store and customer needs

• Demonstrates dependable attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and accountability

• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required

• Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, and/or sales experience preferred

• Experience with upselling, cross-selling, or recommending products and services preferred

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites

• Strong verbal, written, phone, spelling, and math skills

• Friendly, confident, professional, and comfortable interacting with customers

• Sales-oriented and able to confidently explain the value of products and services

• Fast learner who can retain training and quickly learn new systems and procedures

• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work without constant supervision

• Prompt, reliable, responsible, and accountable

• Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team

• Interested in long-term employment and growth within the organization

• Able to lift 50+ pounds
