SUMMARY: The primary role of the Trauma Registrar is medical record data extrapolation and maintenance of the Trauma Registry. This position utilizes expertise in computer data entry to maintain an accurate database that is utilized for performance improvement activities. They assist with performance improvement activities, information requests, quality improvement studies and conducts research on projects as requested.. The Trauma Registrar supports MCHD’s organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards with all customer groups. The trauma registrar is proficient in data collection and analysis. They will meet regularly with the Trauma Program Manager and will assist in facilitating education for the ED staff related to trauma care data. This person will also assist in customer service. They will be trained in basic nursing skills for the Emergency Department and will be expected to assist in patient care as necessary.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

LVN with minimum of 3 years nursing experience. At least one of these years must have occurred in the last 12 months. Preferred clinical experience in acute care.  

 

REQUIREMENTS

Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft applications and presentations

Completion of required regulatory training within 12 months of employment

Current CPR

ACLS within 6 months of employment

 

 

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Current Texas LVN license

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team.  Bi-lingual preferred.
